Quote digging isn't my thing, it's to a fair few of your lot mate, Cest is the only guy (conveniently) who I remember specifically saying it. I'm not one for rubbing people's noses in it, just thought it would be an interesting point to bring up, if the scenario does happen.

I'd just like my logic to be acknowledged that you earn your points on your own and no team is gonna win every game so if we won the league that season I didn't have to acknowledge Sunderland's contribution, same as I wouldn't expect you lot to start donning United tops just because we beat the team in 18th on the last day.

    You should, it's fun. :p

I agree with you're logic 100%. It's the only good logic in this instance as far as I'm concerned. It's like some of the Hull fans who came over thinking that because they beat a team we lost to, it means they'll beat us. It's ****ing stupid.

I reckon we'll be too busy talking about how ****e we are mate! We know we barely deserve to stay up. A lot of us are putting us staying up down to the mags/hull being as **** as they are and not our ability.

You won't get much credit either way.

Why do you still sing about him when he retired nigh on a decade ago then?

It means nowt and certainly doesn't imply any hatred ....... we still sing about Charlie Hurley and most never saw him play.

Keegan still gets a mention but it's all just in fun.

If you really believe Man Utd hate Newcastle and will be inspired to fix a match, just to relegate them, you have quite an imagination there.

"Yes Mr Van Gaal, I know I'm playing for a contract, next season, but I just couldn't get Alan Shearer out of my mind," <laugh>

Why do you still bang on about a 5-0 win that happened almost 20 years ago?

It's like you've never won a big game in your life, harping back to the 'glory days' to dig out an old win, I say glory loosely, there was absolutely no glory whatsoever in fact.

We took your best player off you and gave him a haul of medals before we sent him on his way, if you think we give a **** about Shearer because we mock him more fool you, the guy's a top of the range toss pot as far as the Old Trafford consensus goes.

Firstly, we don't harp on about the 5-0. I don't know anyone who does personally? But anyway, you spent that entire post saying that harping on about something from years ago proves you are obsessed or whatever, so that means that in singing about SHearer still you are openly admitting that you are obsessed with him? Fair enough, can't knock that.

BTW, Andy Cole was nowhere near the player Shearer was.

"To be honest my only worry is that Man United hate Newcastle and would love to see us relegated.
If Arsenal win on Wednesday Man U will have nothing to play for.
Would they field a massively weakened team and "throw" the game?"

Yes, looking back I can't see how I was so confused <ok>

Incidentally, does any mention of anything always mean someone is obsessed?

Claiming people are obsessed seems to be a bit of a Geordie obsession ..........

How good does that feel? Tell Terry. Easy that one too, only took him 6 hours to trip himself up. See Tel, this is why quote digging is fun :emoticon-0136-giggl ;)

I was speculating on a possibility. We'll see what team they put out on Sunday, and what performance they put in.

Also, of course it doesn't, that was Terry's suggestion. But Man U fans ARE obsessed with Shearer <ok>

What I said at the time is that had Man U won, a hell of a lot more of our fans who done the Poznan (which was actually not that many), would have stopped back and applauded you round the pitch.
It was just one of those unique situations that caused so much interest, and if Fergie et al hadn't made such a fuss about it, then it would have been quickly forgotten..

As we are starting the weekend above Hull, and not utterly dependent on them winning, then no, I think you get jack **** mate ;)

It is to be expected that United beat Hull, cos United are United, and Hull are Hull.

You have the mind of an 8 year old child, really is quite tiresome. Have you ever addressed someone directly, one to one, or do you always just jump into the middle of other people's conversations to put it childish and embarrassing remarks?

I was at Old Trafford when they had to beat us to have any chance of winning the title ....... we drew 0-0 and were thereby relegated.

The United supporters spent almost the whole game singing songs to us about going down.

I can't see any difference tbh, they just seem a little precious don't they <doh>

I didn't understand the furore over the Poznan. It was bound to happen. Man U fans who are annoyed about that are equally as daft as NUFC fans who hate Villa for laughing at us when they relegated us. What do people expect?

    Spot on RAW.

Sunderland & United have long had a decent relationship, and I don't think anything at all was meant in malice, never intended was the flare up in the press.

That said, I remember at the time saying to my pal 'what the **** are they doing that for?'. The support around me in the North that day had been heavily stacked in United's favor title wise.

    <laugh> This is quite laughable.

    1) Shearer did not turn down Man Utd. I believe what actually happened was Martin Edwards and Sir John had an agreement not to go above a certain valuation and Shearer would decide from there. Sir John decided to **** that off in the end and offered a world record fee. Man Utd did not want to go that high, leaving Blackburn only one offer to accept (and they would have been daft, at the time, to not accept it)

    2) My anecdotal evidence suggests Man Utd fans aren't exactly enamoured with us BUT there is a deeper feeling of dislike to Sunderland over the Poznan thing.

    3) Tobes v Smug was fun!

    4) Neither us, you or Hull will get any points from our remaining games and I believe the status quo shall remain.

These thoughts are solely my own and are not representative of not606, Newcastle United or anyone else affiliated to me ;)
