Yup up feel sympathy because he's clearly not a striker.

  3. But as an attacking player, he should still be scoring them. As I said to Jimmy above, no one is expecting him to get thirty a season or carry this team but we do expect more from him than what he's given this season, a season where he has declared himself (whether willingly or not) a £100k+ per week player that wants to win titles.

Dont get me wrong he should be scoring more and I've said that.

But if he he was playing midfield and got 10 goals and a forward scored 20 then wouldn't be complaining as much about his goal scoring record.

  5. If he was playing midfield and got ten goals it would be a great return but then, I'm not saying his return this season is poor either. For a twenty year old who has just got the most goals in a single season for his career to date, he's got a good return. Whether player midfield or attack, I'd still complain about is shocking finishing skills (although not such a important aspect of a midfielders game) and his non-existent commitment to the cause since the turn of the year. However, the fact of the matter is, he isn't a midfielder, he is an attacking player. Whether that be upfront, on the wig or in the hole and as such, he will first and foremost be judged on his end product. As most of you know, I don't work in stats, I use my eyes and my eyes tell me he is **** at finishing. He's hardly set the world alight on the creation side either.

As Jamie said, if he wants to win trophies, where the **** was he against Villa at Wembley...? (no, the loss wasn't solely his fault but he didn't stand up to be counted either)

yes i think the stats are all well and good but in reality we are talking about our club going long in all cups and giving him a great platform to perfrom in the league too.

The stats can say what they like your eyes should be telling you all you need to know. He is a ****ing terrible finisher. just like mcmanaman all those years ago.

There were far bigger problems against Villa than Sterling.

Such a ridiculous statement from Jamie.

I think it's criminal that certain players in this team get away with a lot more than others.

What frustrates me now is that we didn't progress with Depay talks because we wanted to focus on a striker (as per tony Barrett).

That just compounds this whole sage further.

Dont disgree. It's not his stats, he had a good start to the season. But he's been **** since and as ha sheen pointed, he looks like he's given up caring which is what is more frustrating to people

Not sure how people can see that he's 'stopped caring'?

Is this the same argument that you're lazy unless you run around like a headless chicken for 70 mins and get subbed? Or you're lazy if you're not Luis Suarez?

Cannot question Sterling's work rate - he still leads the press in most cases.

    I can tell you why.

    1. He's never put himself into a tackle

    2. He's shirked the hard stuff

    3. He's run away form goal at times rather than at players.

to my mind its clear he's been minding himself big time.

  13. Only a ridiculous statement if you dismiss in pure arrogance. Sterling was none existent. If you feeling as strongly as Raheem suggests he does about winning things then you'd get involved and try to make things happen.

  15. Running does mean caring FFS <doh>

He appeared to stop caring because he stopped tackling / putting in a challenge!

    it has been obvious.

he's not exactly made himself a hot property by running at players or engaging them in dangerous areas has he... whens be beaten a man and actually done something? he's dropped off and played it safe mostly not said i'm taking you lot on and beating someoen to make himself a chance.

Who is going to pass it to? Lambert? Mario?

It's the same situation Suarez was in when he joined - literally only had Borini as support. Ended up doing everything himself and by the time it came to the final ball, he fluffed it.

  18. He had Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing <doh>

You make it sound like they were viable options ...

Point still stands - no matter how good you are, you cannot expect quality players to play with with mediocre one and expect them all to raise their games.

As soon as you put suarez with Coutinho and Sturridge, we started to see him doing less work and more able to focus on the end product.

Yes Jimmy all those sitters he missed with absolutely no pressure were because he was playing with dross.

He bottled taking a pen against Besiktas leaving Lovern to step up
Missed the winning pen against Boro
I could pick up sitters he missed
    Decided passing to De gea....

I could go on and on and on but of course it's all Lambert and Lallanas fault. The problem with your argument on this matter is your agenda or feelings towards Rodgers clouds your discussions

Coutinho picked up and continued from last season improved his shooting and got voted (arguably) in the team of the season

Sterling on the other hand regressed as the season prprogressed. The question I'd ask you is what attribute of his game has improved since last season??
