I'm in two minds on this; 1) If true then as you said, Sterling is doing what most of us would do and jumping ship. 2) It is being reported by Ben Smith so probably isn't true. When was the last time we only signed two first players during a summer window too? You would have to go back to before Houllier arrived!
Sterling is part of the failure: how many goals he scored this season?. Some of his misses are unforgiveable!.
couldn't agree more Dribs, he needs to take a look in the mirror and I don't mean to sort his hair out
So we're blaming a 20 year old attacking mid for not scoring more goals? I agree that any professional footballer should be burying the chances he's had but we're placing the blame on the wrong people here. The club, especially Rodgers. Also, Lallana has missed similar opportunities in big games but he doesn't get pelters - but I suppose if you run around like a headless chicken, you get immunity.
no we are BLAMING HIM FOR NEVER INTENDING TO SIGN ANYTHING AT ANY TIME! stop defending everyone and everything that steps out of line at our club. sterling is to blame for his actions... don't forgive his actions cos you want to have a go at rodgers Theres plenty to have a go at rodgers for without absolving sins of others.
I've said on numerous occasions - everyone looks bad. This whole club looks bad as well as Sterling. Problem is, fans are now pinning it on Sterling. My issue is that the club are not entirely blameless. Do you believe Sterling would have left if we had finished 2nd again, or kicked up this sh*t storm? Yes - Sterling won't sign the contract. But why not? Because the club is in a mediocre and vulnerable state. That is the crux of the issue ..
Now, every thing has been blown out of proportion, Raheem Sterling must go, but the price must be right. Carragher is not happy about this either.
not really... he wants loadsa money.... thats the thing. no matter what else i don't believe his lies and feel its all bull ****. he wants an easy ride to medals and loadsa dosh and so does his agent.
Blaming him for not scoring more goals yes. Blaming him for our rotten season no. Sterling should look at himself before suggesting the clubs ambitions don't match his own.
You do realise you were talking to Jimmy there right? Had the player in question been Skrtel, Lovren, Lallana, Lucas, Allen, Lambert, Flanno, etc then he'd have come down on them like a ton of bricks
Maybe, maybe not, who knows other than Sterling himself? However, you're missing one key point; Sterling was part of both squads so he has to take some responsibility for his drop in form and the impact that as had on the first team. That's not blaming him for our season, that is one individual that is part of the setup accepting they are jointly responsible for the poor season. And before you claim he was played out of position or constantly moved around, the lad as played on the wing a lot before this season, he claims he is a strikers and he's had his best games for us at No.10. That suggests he's capable of playing all the roles.
But he's not a striker - we can't be blaming him for not scoring goals. He's scored more than last season? In a team which does not create many chances and is significantly weaker than last. He was practically carrying our attack for the first half of this season which obviously seems like a long time ago because everyone has forgotten. It's as if fans do not realise that we have a seriously talented player on our hands with immense potential.
He's an attacking player, of course he should score goals! No one expects him to score thirty a season but they do expect him to score two yard tap-ins
But he's 20 years old - course he's going to be raw (agree, there are chances he should be burying). But he's scored more goals than last year. The talent is clearly there. 10 goals a season from a 20 year old attacking player is very good - especially when you consider similar talents across Europe, and more established stars at the same age. But more importantly - he is creative. His primary job is to create, not score. And he has dribbled more times and created more chances than everyone in the league bar Hazard. This is a 20 year old kid. (Can someone verify those stats pls!! Ha).
Doesn't really matter what you say or how you justify it, he shouldn't be missing two yard tap-ins. Especially if you are thinking you are a £100k+ per week title winning player! And he's created precisely ****all No one is question the talent of the lad, he clearly is a good player who will get better with age. The problem is his attitude, his agent and the way they've gone about this contract negotiation. The clubs been **** too though, Brod, Ayre and Gerrard all speaking out about it attempting to apply pressure on Sterling to sign the new deal, I'd guess this is what the 'bullying' comment is about. that and constantly calling him "kid"
Agreed - bullying is the wrong word. He certainly has been pressured, which is why I say the club are not blameless in this saga. Everyone looks an idiot. Embarrassing from both parties.
I expect him to be able to put one in for 2 yards out with an open goal like e missed a couple of weeks ago... Of when 1v1 against United to slide it into the empty net instead of cutting back and passing it to De Gea, or when he went on a grey run against Spurs get 5 yards out then passed it to Lloris. Hes a a goood attacking player but the chances he's had he should have at least another 5 goals this year.
