There's a Referendum this Friday in Ireland on whether or not a pair of Geezers should be allowed get wed. I thought this would be a good opportunity to see what opinions there are on this subject amongst the QPR faithful and to help me decide which way to cast my ballot. Stan's election poll proved to be fairly accurate so I think we've got a representative enough bunch on here.

Please feel free to contribute your thoughts on this issue and guide me to making an informed decision.

Quite right Stan. There's two, the other one is whether the the age one can run for the Presidency should be reduced from 35 to 21.

    The votes are yours

Seriously Swords???? You are telling me in this day and age that two people have to ask for the consent of an entire country as to whether they may get wed?????

Not that it is anyones business other than their own but I would have thought they are free to do whatever the fcuk they want!!

    Religion - sheeeeesh! <doh>

It would appear so my friend (well, the consent of a majority at least). I think it was only legalised in England last year? I don't know what the story is with other Countries

The irony is, in England from the 1960's until the last couple of years gay couples have legally been permitted to have a sexual relationship but not been allowed to be married.

How does that work then with the no sex before marriage clause? Kind of a double standard really.

With regards your original question in the post....................i voted yes.

I've just done some Googling. Scotland brought it in a few months ago. Canada was the first Country to legalise it after after a court case in 2001. Next came Holland and then Belgium in 2003. Austria, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland are considering legislation to introduce same-sex marriage. Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine have a constitutional ban on same sex marriage. Its still banned in Northern Ireland also.

So the 21 year old priest will be able to marry his bishop and then become president? Sounds like a plot out of 'Mrs Brown's Boys'...

The Aussie politicians were going to make a call on it but decided to head to the pub for further consultation.
They still haven't made a call on it but they have extended the opening hours of all pubs!

To me, whether I agree with it or not is irrelevant, as 'finglas' has stated ............. we should all be treated equally.

As Ricky Gervais said- 'Same sex marriage isn't gay privilege, it's equal rights. Privilege would be something like gay people not paying taxes. Like churches don't'

One up the bum - no harm done
One up the rectum - it don't affect em
Fudge packing, dirt digging, mushroom picking - it's been going on since the start of man

If you're looking to vote according to morals then the only question to ask is, does this thoroughly piss off the zealots and the ignorant?
If yes - always go with it

If you Dnt belive in the teachings of a church why get married in one ? Are they just doing it to be difficult , seeking attention. Why should the church change and water down its beliefs for the few ?

Gervais is a left wing cu%t your right yes he's also for same sex marriage in a church so let's himself down

Ha, ha, you're right the church shouldn't water down its beliefs for a few. Remind me again, should my raped daughter be forced to marry her attacker or not??
