I don't agree on Sanchez, I think he's the sort of player that can play any attacking position. Play him in a front pairing with freedom to roam and he'd be quality IMO

front pair, that suggests a line leading striker still. Ok I don't see pedro doing that but in the end..... LFC just need better players

I'm not talking about offering a player worth £60k per week £200k so they join <laugh> If they are worth £60k per and others are showing interest (where we're likely to lose out) then offer them £70k or £80k early and entice them to sign.

We haven't won a major trophy for nearly ten years (debatable on the League Cup so I won't count it), we have no true world stars, a pretty much unknown quantity as manager, no CL football to offer and we're trying to top it off with a structure basic wage system with bonuses. Is there any wonder they're going elsewhere? <laugh>

I love disagreeing with you .. but can't with this post. <ok>

Pedro is quality - would definitely take him.

But if we held back on signing Depay, then I'm not sure why we would go for Pedro.

I agree he's a quality player but he's not what we need right now and we need every penny we've got for what we do need in the team. Unless, of course, we're going to change the shape of the team again and go back to 433. We'd still need a least one striker (and I'd still prefer two) and it would leave Coutinho in limbo as well (lets no argue about Coutinho being CM or AM again <laugh>)

Let Soton pay £100k for Milner.

There are younger, cheaper players with more ability and potential than Milner. And I stand by 'cheaper' because Milner will command a signing on fee and stupid wages. He's already on £90k a week at City - he's looking for one big pay day ala Joe Cole.

Of if he wanted one big pay day he's sign a new contract with city... He wants to leave and play regular first team football. Can't slate him for that

I hear what you're saying but if quality players become available, then we need to be in for them, regardless of priorities. We're a big club and we need to act like it.

Did Chelsea need to sign Fabregas and Felipe Luis? No.

If there is an opportunity to strengthen the first XI, then I'd do it. Pedro would provide more pace to the attack and better decision making in the final 3rd, combined with pressing. Now he certainly suits our style of play.

City don't want him - that's why don't want to offer him another lucrative contract.

If he wanted first team football, then he wouldn't have been sitting on the City bench for the past 5 years.

Sorry but I just don't buy into the perception that he's a top professional who wants to play regular football. He's a mercenary (nothing wrong with that).

Pellegrini ia saying they want to keep him so clearly have offered or are offering him a new contract

Chelsea is such a poor example. They already had a very good squad so they could afford to buy random players for the squad. However, the three they got were what they needed; they needed to sign Fabregas since they lost Lampard. They clearly needed a striker so got Costa. And didn't they lose Ashley Cole too? Hence Felipe Luis?

they are worried about having enough warm english bodies honestly... milner knows it so if he wants money he sits.

if he wants to play he moves.

City offered him a contract so clearly do want him. Plus they need HG players too.

They offered him a contract but on what terms? They've been hit hard with FFP - are they going to offer him another £100k a week contract just to sit on the bench? No - they probs offered him the same if not less.

FFP rules have been relaxed now according to blaster just saw on sky sports app to allow more investment by owners. Help them against 10 cases currently ongoing apparently <laugh>

everyone knew knew this would happen...

It's City not us, 100k for a proven British prem player is nothing to them, especially when they need to pad their squad with Brits for the quota.

Gareth Bale "wants out" of Real Madrid and is hoping to return to the Premier League, according to Duncan Castles of the Sunday Times. Castles believes the Welshman "is pushing" to exit the Bernabeu in a report which will no doubt capture the interest of Manchester United and England's elite.
The aforementioned article suggests United are leading the way for his signature, while Chelsea and Manchester City are "aware" of the player's situation. Castles believes United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward would have "no qualms" about spending a new club record fee on the player.

Madrid President Florentino Perez would be looking for a profit on Bale, claims Castles, meaning United would have to spend in excess of £85 million.
Bale is now guaranteed a trophyless season in Spain after Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid to confirm the domestic title on Sunday. He has scored 13 and assisted nine in 31 matches this campaign, per WhoScored.com, dwindling numbers compared to last year.
The player's agent has also suggested he is "p----d off" in Madrid due to his team-mates failing to pass him the ball, reported by John Percy of the Telegraph. However, John Cross of the Mirror believes Bale wants to move from his role on the wing and into a central striker's position. This is something United can facilitate.
De Gea to Make Madrid Decision, Says Van Gaal

Less positively for the club, Van Gaal has suggested he can do nothing more to stop David De Gea moving in the opposite direction. Instead, he suggests the Spanish goalkeeper has a major decision to make.
De Gea is being linked with a move to Madrid, as reported by Chris Wheeler of the MailOnline. Although Van Gaal admits offering the player a mega-contract to remain in England, he suggests the 24-year-old may find it too difficult to escape the lure of the Spanish capital, and indeed, his family. Van Gaal's comments were reported by Wheeler:
I analyse his position and then I say he is Spanish, he is Spanish international, still behind (Iker) Casillas, now a Spanish club is coming, his girlfriend is Spanish, his father and mother come here every week or every two weeks so it is difficult.
He shall not leave us so easily because we have a great club. But he can go to another great club and that is for him to decide. We have given a fantastic contract because we want him to stay. I think he has had a fantastic season.

Such comments may force United fans to resign themselves to De Gea leaving. He's been a match-winner all season and once again showed why he's held in such regard during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal. De Gea made a clever save from Olivier Giroud in the second half, before being substituted with a hamstring injury.
Perhaps symbolically, substitute goalkeeper Victor Valdes conceded shortly after replacing his countryman.
De Gea was the only United player to make it into this year's PFA Team of the Year, a success which summarises both his individual qualities and the team's defensive struggles.
Nick Sutton of BBC Radio 4 summed up the English media's thoughts on the situation:

So basically, we're not in a position to sign top quality in-demand players. No CL, unfavourable wage structure, no top class players and no big name manager or DoF...

Meaning we need to go back to finding the talent which is out there but being neglected. Right now, I would be going after Illarramendi who is available this summer - Real want somewhere between 10-15million for him. Huge potential but was never going to get a game ahead of Alonso and now Modric (another soft agent who gave poor advice) and has been transfer listed. Another Coutinho perhaps?

Has Khedira's future been sorted out? Another
