Team For Next Season

The Transfer thread is rife with opinion on who we will buy and who we wont.

We are all pretty down after a poor season and not many have faith in that Rodgers will buy the right players.

So if you were the manager who would you buy and how would they fit into the team?

Some realism needs to be applied here so try to pick reasonable targets.

It's a very different side and I'm sure others will have different ideas. The players I've chosen other than Griezmann are not a huge outlay in transfer fees and are not all sought after by other clubs, the center backs I've gone for are a partnership one head the ball and one ball player, the midfield is tough, hard working and designed to win and keep the ball, the forward line has pace and creativity.

Really simple this. I've seen the light of a true world class manager. Just play all defenders or defensive players and buy a proper target man striker.

It worked this year.... of course we lack the world class player i support (de gea)

Bar Milner (as I'd like to see us sign him), the highlighted players are just examples of the types of players I'd like to see join.

Hummels; big, strong leader at the back.

Mascherano; dedicated dm with energy to burn, pace, tackling and capable of reading the game to cover areas of danger quickly.

Milner; energy, desire, passion, passing, tackling and commitment. Perfect for how we play, coupled with Hendo (or Can), would provide a perfect platform for Coutinho to do his stuff.

Tevez; goals, tenacity, desire, heart, passion, energy and never give up attitude.

I'd actually want another striker (Studge is made of paper mache) and a LB (because Moreno is pants) too.

 

Bender

 

Can't see him doing it all by himself.

Coutinho Kovacic

Sturridge Son/Aubameyang/Lacazette

I would opt for a box midfield - Kondogbia and Can providing the energy and strength in midfield with Kovacic and Coutinho providing the creativity.

Beauty of this is that you have the likes of Sterling and Markovic who can rotate, and play more central roles.

I hope we sign him but it looks like Rodgers doesn't rate him.

 

I like him but I don't see the point in signing when we have Flanno (assuming we can ever get him fit again). We should be looking two have two FBs on either side that compliment each other; aka one attack minded and one defensive minded on each side. ATM (and ignoring Johnson), we have two defensive minded on the right (Flanno and Mankiller) and two attack minded players on the left (Moreno and Enrique)

In all seriousness our squad is pretty ****. We've got a handful of players who can play a full season, we've got (at best) 4 or 5 players who are good enough to be regular top four players and we've got a defence that has more leaks than Julian Assange....and probably still will have next season.
The only options I see (if BR is still there) are to go for all out attacking talents and **** the defence off completely....we're already three quarters of the way to the latter anyway

Think Rodgers recently mentioned that he likes Manquillo and he'll get more opportunity next year. This season was about bedding in.

Hopefully, Rodgers stick to this because Manquillo is one of the very few defenders at this club who can actually defend. Rather have him over Flanagan whose career is all but over (due to injuries).

 

Haha - a 4-2-2-2 is an exciting formation which overloads our midfield to ensure defence is protected (DM and Can) and our attackers have support (Kovacic and Coutinho).
