I'm not sure about the Kevin Pietersen thing, but I am sure that it's worth keeping him out of the England team if it annoys Piers Morgan that much.

For anyone who watches Sky's Goals On Sunday programme, Brad Friedel is the guest tomorrow morning.

Brad got a tremendous send off this afternoon when he said his goodbyes on the pitch at half time.

A top man who will be missed around the club.

Am I alone in that all I took from that is how good it is to see our goalkeeping great looking so well?

There are some tw*ttish football commentators, but their RU counterparts take the biscuit.

I heard one describe Newcastle player Sinoti Sinoti as the "South Seas winger." :emoticon-0183-swear

South Seas? :emoticon-0145-shake It's not 1780<doh>, although I bet they wish it was as England might then have a chance of winning the RU World Cup

American citizens are constantly given the chance to declare, or not declare, our ethnicity on voting forms, employment applications, etc. My friend Glenn Mackenzie, blonde haired and blue eyed, always checks "South Pacific Islander." He's a Kiwi. In our case, it's more Rodgers and Hammerstein than Captain Cook, but it might be nice if we all moved on.

We elect judges in benighted Pennsylvania, farcically enough since 95% of the voters don't have the slightest idea who any of them are. The easiest winner every year had the slogan "Silvestri Silvestri. A name worth repeating."

I would imagine ethnicity can be a very tricky issue in the U.S. At point do you see yourself as just a Caucasian American, for example, as opposed to Northern European or Irish or whatever? And which box does Tiger Woods tick?

We get options such as white British, black British, Pakistani etc, but sadly no box for Viking, Norman or Anglo-Saxon.

As for Rugby Union, I think some involved in the game see it as the last bastion of the British Empire (my take on the "South Seas" reference). Having colonised half the world, we ought to jolly well remind the blighters of it.

The working logic seems to be that because stupid people use race to classify people, we want to keep track of what race people are. :emoticon-0138-think

But you certainly look down the list and think, ooh, that's a good one. I wonder: if there's an 80% chance I have some American Indians among my ancestors, and you can classify yourself as two races...

if I say white and American Indian, will people think I'm trying to get some minority cred under false pretences?

If I say I'm just white, am I contributing to the disenfranchisement of American Indians and whitewashing of their history?

Since the root of Hispanic is Spanish, and I speak Spanish, am I Hispanic?

What's the definition of African American? Is it having US citizenship and having your ancestors come from Africa?

    Then that's all of us.

And yet you don't go around proudly taking credit for the US of A. Strange. It's almost like there's something...wrong...with us...

    There's two schools of thought:

    1. People don't realise the USA is an independent country - after all, you do speak English (sort of), use miles and pints and understand how to play the guitar as it should be played or

    2. The boot is now on the other foot and any day now, the UK will be officially declared as the 51st State.

Either way, I don't think Brits think the USA is a different country which was once governed by Britain (albeit the kings were either Scots or Germans for the most part) as they do with, say, India.

I agree with that old saying....."two countries separated by a common language".
I remember stopping at several McDonalds in Kentucky and when I ordered heard a lot of giggling on the outside speaker. They asked me to repeat my order several times at several stores....still giggling!

One big day is St Patrick's Day.(Which is just an excuse to get boozed up.)
...and when black people keep referring to themselves as African-American when they were all born in the USA.
Do you ever hear of an English-American?No.

One more thing while I'm at it.Are there any British cemeteries for soldiers killed by Indians and French military?Never heard of one.....and just think of the many British soldiers that lost their lives "fighting for America"! agains't the colonists (mostly British!).Cemeteries?Never heard of one.......
