Sorry it isn't the same team, how can it be one is called Hull City AFC and the other is called Hull Tigers, pure logic my friend.

Wimbledon changed their name to MK Dons, same team, different name. To claim otherwise because they moved to Milton Keynes is utter nonsense, isn't it?

There are clearly enough people that think it is not the same team to refute your "nonsense" claim. When, in your eyes, is it not the same team? Colours? Location?

Your rumour will only carry weight if it came from a taxi driver.

This is exactly how we all feel here, we have finally had enough of being treated like the dirt on his boots so no renewals in this house regardless of the division or playing name decision. We will go to a few games on a game by game basis but just will not give the bar steward over a grand so he can insult us!

What makes it a fundamentally different team?

I would say that the name is the only constant in any club.

    The managers change
    The players change
    The kit changes
    The badge changes
    The owners change
    The fans change
    The stadiums change

The only true way of identifying a football club is the name. To use Waggy as an example the only way to link him to the current players are the words Hull City everything around that has changed since he played.

It is interesting that you use the words 'different team' I would say the team is the players and possibly the management, they will certainly change at some point.

We are talking about the club as a whole. Hull City.

The crowd, or lack of it
I dont care what anyone thinks, reasons etc.
If the name changes, i'm finished with them
if the name returns to Hull City I will reconsider, not say i'll support again, just reconsider
and I dont go back on what I say, unlike others

Will not be renewing next season due to the 2nd price hike in 2 seasons regardless of what division we are in and I'm not alone in thinking that in the section where I currently sit..Should the worst case scenario happen and were relegated, how anybody can even consider to pay out over £500 to watch a season of Championship football is beyond belief. Suggest people look around other season ticket prices in that League and i'll guess we'd be far and away the most expensive.

Hull City haven't changed location so this is totally irrelevant. Stick to facts that apply.

I'm not a season ticket holder, I live abroad and I only get to about one game per season.. but if the name changes, this is something I've not yet sorted out in my head.. you might say "it's only a name" however it carries a much profounder meaning than a few letters.

Apart from family, Hull City is about all I've got left which connects me to where I'm from; if it changes I'll be devastated, insulted and I'll lose something visceral

And in the unlikely event that Hull City become known as Hull Tigers what will have fundamentally changed? It will still be the same team/club etc. that turn out on a Saturday (or whenever else TV dictates!) and that we have all supported for varying lengths of time. There's an awful lot of complete overreaction to all of this.

Will you continue to back Allam's plan to change the name to appeal to Asian market, if we're in the Championship and cease to exist as far as the Asian market is concerned? (Just for the purposes of this question, I'm ignoring the fact that whole thing is predicated on a lie)

Just because you aren't bothered, why do you expect everyone else to feel the same? As I asked you earlier, where is your line in the sand? If we played in blue? If we played at Melton? If we changed name, colours, and location? Do you really think that not renewing after having a season pass every year for 35 years was an easy decision?

It's the only surviving link to the original club formed in 1904 to me that would make it a new club.

As regards this specific proposed name change I'm neither backing Allam nor opposing him - my point is to refute claims that changing from Hull City to Hull Tigers would fundamentally change the team that I support. I think to try & argue otherwise is utter rubbish.

I think it was a misguided decision - but totally your to make & not for me to say whether it was right or wrong. This proposed name change is definitely not close to being a "line in the sand" for me. It will still be the same team that I am supporting.
