<peacedove>Come next Sunday last game of the season is going to played .We are away
to Stoke City, difficult nut to crack.
    We played
37 games already, won 18 drew 8 lost 11 goals for 51 goals against 42.
The statistics is completely different from last season when we came second.
To retain 5th we must win at Stoke on Sunday.
After Stoke game I think the management of Liverpool (Fenways Sport) are going
to decide one way or the other, whether they have faith in Brendan Rodgers or relieve
    him of his positiom.
Without bias, do you think Brendan Rodgers is going to take us forward?

There are players eg. Gerrard and Carragher who have a bigger stature than BR in the club and BR hasn't handled using them very well apart from Carragher in his last season and Gerrard in last season.

Now the old guard is going, the midfielders will feel free to express themselves without fear of upsetting Gerrard.

The team will have a proper holiday and pre-season. Hopefully any new signings will join us before pre-season. For once we'll have a real good start to the season. However, if we don't .............

    All depends on the signings.
Signings let us down this year.

The biggest concern is the defence, in 3 years its not improved and in fact looks to be worse than ever. Rodgers refusal to admit that he is not/ can not improve the defence on his own makes me question if he is the right man long term.
In 3 years and with hundreds of millions spent the squad doesn't look much better than it did when he took over and in effect we only moved up 2 places (could be 1 or even none by the end of the season) in the league, last year is looking more and more like it was down to Suarez.
There is also the calamitous transfers, the players bought, the players missed, which in fairness isn't all down to Rodgers, and the players who want to play for BR, cause in modern day football the reputation of the manager is as important as the reputation of the club.

Absolutely right there: good teams build from the back. If we do not concede we have a better chance of winning (Rafa Benitez)

This season is almost on par with Roy/Kenny's season in charge. I'm, not sure how it's gone unnoticed if I'm being honest.

The defence and midfield are still weak, and without Suarez, our attack has regressed.

Spent over £200m on a team with good young talent, but doesn't have a clue on how to use it.

3 years on, there is no plan, no identity, no structure in the way play.

At December, I would have said Rodgers was a dead man walking.

Then he had a good period of 13 games. But since then, I think we've won 8 points from 8 games. And that's included teams like Palace, Hull, West Brom.

    It's not good enough.

Kenny had Suarez. A single player doesn't make you challenge because they get marked. You need a few players in top form so you can't mark everyone.

We challenged because of Suarez and Sturridge and Coutinho and Sterling. And Rodgers is basically responsible for 3/4 of them.

And last season was down to Suarez. If it wasn't, why has our whole style of play completely changed? Why has Sturridge and Sterling struggled? It's because Suarez alone would drag 2-3 players out of position and create space.

Why aren't we able to create chances? Why aren't we pressing?

Rodgers has been found out sadly.

I have a bad feeling we've all been had by Rodgers to be honest. I think deep down he is a journeyman and a bullshitter unfortunately. Three years since his appointment and, whilst our club is in a stronger position due to FSG, our squad is just as poor as before - Rodgers has made some truly atrocious signings tbh,

What about all the chances Sterling's missed - about 20 sitters so far?

He has a 50% win ratio for this year? Surprised I thought would be lower than that...

We'll soon see if Rodgers is going to go forward by the targets he goes for.

First glance would be Ings and Milner, they do it for you. Whilst Ings would be an improvement on Lambert and Milner would be an advancement on Allen. Its not a massive improvement that we need to get ahead of either Man U (assuming they spend 100mil+ again), Arsenal or Citeh.

If you can improve your squad players with freebies while selling off the unwanted then you make a small profit to use to go towards a couple of big signings.

Would people be happy with Milner, ings, Lacazette, Montoya coming in with balotelli borini Lambert going out?

most managers don't have higher win ratio.. you can only do that by winning stuff

    in fairness

the thing about this building from the back crap is this.... its a lot easier build from the back and a lot harder get the class act upfront. often teams build from the back cos they can't get the players at first.

Yes good defense is basic.. yes its part of football but its a whole team action. our bad defense is about being not capable of for 3 years being solid form set piece and a lack of 11men defending like a team should... ie lack of tracking back etc.

Thats why rodgers is not the man... i said that pulis would do better than him
