Think he's referring to how some rush to criticise a player after a few poorer games and forgetting all the good stuff. It has been Long, though most have moved onto Steven Davis. I love players that can create from nothing....both Mane and Long have speed, terrifying to defenders (even if Long runs like he has a poker up his derriere ).
Me too. A few people have criticised Pelle on this forum but he needs decent players creating chances for him. Pelle's goals only stated to dry up when Tadic lost form. Do we need another forward? If Pelle is at his best he is formidable, then you have Mane who has suddenly become the worlds greatest player, Long, who is the second best, Rodriguez who was last year's best and Gallagher (the best in his age group. Maybe, because of Europe we should add but I'm not sure someone like Charlie Austin would give us anything different. Hernandez maybe!
Just an fyi on my opinion on Pelle. Goals drying up does not always equate to loss of form. My comments about Pelle from about December, were based on his play, not his lack of goals.
Green (if Fraser not out for too long) Scmeichael if is Clyne, Fonte, Toby, Bertrand Wanyama, Classie/Vilhena J Rod, Mane, Long/ Tadic Austin/Pelle Gazza, Yoshida, Targett, Reed, Tadic/Long, Pelle/Austin
-------------Heaton Clyne Fonte Alderweireld Bertrand -------Wanyama Schneiderlin/Clasie -----Mane Rodriguez Long --------------Pelle Subs: K.Davis/Gazzaniga, Yoshida, Gardos, S.Davis/Reed, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Austin/Lambert
The discussion re Shane Long is interesting.. Do we know the comparisons of 'minutes on the pitch' to 'goals scored' in the premier league this season when comparing Pelle, Long and Mane?
Finally someone who believes Spider might still be here! I am doubtful and fear that the deal is already done. I hope that you are right!
No contest there. A 33 year old past his prime or someone who has just scored more than Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski this season. Tough one that.
The return of Jay coupled with the performance of the front three Saturday and Tadic still in the wings gives us very good attacking options. Even if we don't sign another striker. We hope Jay can get back to where he was, Pelle & Long are probably at the top of their respective games and won't give defenders an easy time. Mane & Tadic have the potential to go up a level IMO and offer our best hope of scoring more goals next season. Can Koeman find the right balance
