May be him, but could be just a rumour. That's the trouble with these super injunctions....one judge cancelled one because he said it wasn't right that innocent or uninvolved people came under suspicion in order to protect one person.

Could you explain to me why you think my post is utter rubbish? I'm a little confused. I wasn't advocating drug use as a good thing, merely suggesting that excessive use of any legal or illegal drug is equally harmful. Your original post slightly oddly, or as you said, naively, suggested it was only illegal drugs.

Mmm when you say caffeine users, do you mean something more than drinking lots of coffee? I ask as my naivety in drug taking is astounding and I wondered if there is some other way of taking caffeine as a drug?

If not, please don't tell me that drinking three cups of coffee in the morning is on a par as smoking three joints in a morning. If you are, then I think the whole discussion may have missed a point or two. I can't possibly imagine my behaviour in each case would be the same. This may be where the pro-legalisation issue comes in. Some people look at "harm" from drugs and some look at "behaviour"

Utter rubbish in my opinion only LTL, much like you thought in your opinion my post was off kilter. I abhor drugs full stop but i am no expert so rely on the law to sort out what is legal and what is illegal, and have to assume that the really harmful substances are illegal. Some people on here are drawing comparisons with alcohol and caffiene etc. That's daft as its missing the point. Millions of people enjoy a pint or a glass of wine, and occassionally more than one, and they do this their whole life without becoming alcoholics or a problem for society. I know loads of young people who dont use drugs and dont need them to have a good life. But i have also seen some who's lives are a real mess as they got into drugs and have ended up in a crap world of no interest, no hope and are no use to anybody. When my son left school and went to Brockenhurst College i was truely shocked at the level of open drug abuse going on at that place. I was very glad when he finished there and went on to an industry training establishment where there is some discipline, young people are well motivated and their whole lives do not revolve around drugs.

Watching Moto3 now and Brit Danny Kent started 31st and with 10 laps to go is 8th, only a couple of seconds off the lead and he is the quickest: http://www.cricfree.tv/bt-sport-2-live-stream

    or BT Sport 2

Now 6th and 1.5 seconds off the lead

    4th

And finished 4th from 31st. He extends his world championship lead to 37 points because none of his rivals were above him. Great race. He went 3rd at one point but got baulked when trying to get 2nd.

Sorry Alfie, but you have missed the point that alcohol kills more people every year than all the other drugs, legal and illegal, put together. The problem is that alcohol has been such an entrenched part of society at every level for so long that governments can do little but control its use and make money out of it by taxation. On the other hand, most of the problems people have with illegal drugs are caused by the fact that they are underground and their supply is controlled by criminal gangs. So the question should be: if all illegal drugs were legalised, and therefore their supply was controlled by the government just like alcohol, wouldn't that be better for society overall?

I don't know the answer to that question but I am such a weak ineffectual person who has no sense of personal responsibility that I am holding you all responsible for the fact that I got drunk last night. It is always someone else's fault right!

Alcoholics are fine apparently, because boose is legal.
FLT, it wasn't a direct comparison of caffeine with illegal drugs, it was just an example of something that is common in our diets that is in fact a drug as it has a stimulating effect. People do of course use caffeine pills to stay awake, however that is different to having a few cups of coffee. I'd classify having a spliff in the same way as someone having a glass of wine or beer, in that there is a time and a place for it, you shouldn't do it if you need to drive somewhere and moderation in use. The legal=good vs illegal=bad argument is something that I wish were addressed, as it gives people the impression that all illegal drugs are the same, and are all dangerous whereas legal drugs are all OK, and we are allowed to use our own judgement in how we use/abuse substances like alcohol and indeed legal stimulants like caffeine pills.
Chilco's point that a lot of the problems associated with illegal drugs are there because they are illegal, not because they are dangerous or inherantly anti-social is a very valid statement and is key to my argument for legalisation of cannabis.
I also have 3 cups of coffee in the morning, but I'd never imagine a having a spliff in the same way, as I have to go out and work for a living. I look forward to a smoke when I get home though, rather than a glass of beer as that is my preference, hence comparing cannabis with alcohol directly, and am certainly not saying that all drugs are equal, and interchangeable.
Now I realise I am a scourge on society though, I have to apologise to anybody who's evening was ruined last night because I used an illegal drug whilst I watched MOTD.

Of course real gripe water had alcohol in it. And maybe you were tapping into an old memory. I have a soft spot for gripe water too. :)

    Your post is confusing/confused.

    -

yes, and millions of people will have a spliff or a line of coke or a pill, and they'll do that their whole life without becoming drug addicts or a problem for society.

Yes, but I'm quite sure you've seen many more whose lives are in a real mess because of alcohol.

So the comparisons are absolutely valid with alcohol. It's confusing to me you can't see that. This blanket attitude toward illegal drugs vs legal drugs (including alcohol) is a little naive. There's a lot of grey to explore there.

Very good MotoGP race today. Lorenzo won with Rossi 2nd and Dovizioso 3rd. Later in the race there was a superb dual between Iannone and Marquez, with each passing each other seemingly at will. Real edge of the seat stuff. Bradley Smith was just behind the pair and finished 6th.

One knows one can design something like that, but it begs the question, should one build something like that..? What purpose does it serve other than to illustrate that people will spend millions upon entertainment but won't bother to make sure that empty bellies are full and children/people are unafraid. To me, building something like that is an exercise in excess gone too far.
