As for attention seeking, Gerrard never asked for it but got it and you have done your best on your board and ours to gain attention regarding Getrrard all night.

Our midfield and defence are embarrassing. A RCB and a DM must be high priority for the summer (as well as a striker).

And give either Sakho or Can captaincy next season - two players who actually stand up and take responsibility when the going gets tough. If not, buy a leader .

 

Actually being captain means ****all. Wearing the armband or not, they should still be the same player. The difference with wearing the armband is you're involved in the coin toss and might occasionally lift a trophy.

 

I agree with you to some extent. But if that was the case, why not give the captain's armband to someone like Markovic then?

Henderson is not a leader. He bottles it on every big occasion.

But seriously, we should definitely not be reconsidering him as captain next season. He's not a leader with or without the captains armband, and he can't rise to the occasion.

You have to have a certain level of respect for a captain - you need to to believe this is man is a leader, he will defend you, he will drag the team up when they're down. Henderson does none of those things. If I was playing under Hendo, I'd be thinking who is this youngster who isn't all that good a player. How can he motivate me?

 

You have a weird concept of captaincy ...

This surely is about leadership. The captain being the leader of the team. Driving the team, getting the players during the match to work hard, to play to an agreed system to instill discipline during the match etc.

 

And you have a weird way of reading things lol

I never said the captain shouldn't have those things, I said having the armband shouldn't be the difference between having those qualities or not. IE if not the captain, why wouldn't still drive the team forward if the tough times etc? Suarez being a great example; wasn't the captain (most of time) last season but he was more influential to other players than Gerrard was!

 

So - another big occasion and the players bottled it. We seem incapable of turning up for big matches.

 

Did anyone else think the final interview on the pitch was a little underwhelming? Quite a few people have said that it felt like a club PR exercise bigging up the owners and Rodgers rather than focusing on Gerrard.

While this chain of events appears plausible, why didn't the committee block his acquisition of Lovren last summer?

 

Rodgers finished 2nd and got a new contract (which apparently gave him a bit more control).

Lovren and Lallana were his big targets all summer.

 

I don't care who chooses the next batch of players - as long as they're the right players!
