All athletes know WADA hold them in strict liability for anything in their body. We all have problems in our lives. For a highly paid, professional athlete to react to them by taking cocaine is ridiculous in the extreme. He could pay for the best counselling or psychiatrist money could buy to help him through. But no, quick high, lose your career. Typical of the modern footballer who lives in a world where everything is done for them, no responsibility and no concept of consequences.

If he is suspended for a significant amount of time can he play in another country? Or does the ban carry over to other leagues?

    The ban will apply everywhere.

I've seen someone on Facebook claiming his bird lost a child, but it could just be wild speculation.

My thoughts exactly. I dont know where its coming from but GTF

steve Bruce is getting a lot of grief on here nowadays but one thing. If Livermore went to him with his problems he'd back him to the hilt and support him. But nah takes Cocaine instead.

Like us all he made a mistake. He'll pay for it. I hope he gets the help he needs, takes it if offered and finds a club in 2 years time. I smell hypocrisy all over the national press. I wonder how many of them take the odd snort?

Jake Livermore isn't the reason we're 3rd from bottom, although he seems to be a convenient scapegoat.

If I make a mistake, it doesn't involve supporting the criminal underworld by sniffing cocaine and causing misery all along its journey to my nose.

Just because some journalists are hypocrites doesn't mean what he did shouldn't be reported and condemned.

He REALLY should have known better. Unless he thought he was untouchable?

I don't think anyones blaming him for us being third from bottom, despite everything Bruce Jnr gets more **** than Livermore's currently getting in that regard.

I agree he needs help but he's not the victim some are painting him out to be. He's an athlete who knew exactly what he was doing.

I was trying to find the same sentiment Obi. It is easy to forget that players are generally from the same family backgrounds as supporters and although they can succeed at the sport they may fail to cope with problems.

I feel sorry for him as a person, but to be honest I feel angry too, that we as supporters have been let down by him as a player.

Ye but I'd rather hear that TOM. When Ferdinand missed his drug test. The Man U propaganda machine went into overdrive.
This, personal problems bollocks, where has it come from?
Jake should think it over, talk it over with a thoroughly decent man-Steve Bruce- take some personal responsibility for his actions and explain how, where, when, how often, who with and why he took drugs.
Until he does he is going to be in denial about it.

Apart from Charon, Bruce has had very little **** this season, Livermore has had far more(as have McGregor and Huddlestone).

If you haven't ever "supported the criminal underworld" in one way or another you're probably in the minority
And I don't see anyone on any forum painting him as a victim
Assuming the B test is positive then he's done something stupid, and he'll rightly pay a price for that ( although as someone who has his drink spiked before I do appreciate how it is possible that it could be different to what it appears, we'll know soon enough)
The whole moral outrage thing is a bit boring and sanctimonious
There have been times I think he shouldn't have been picked because he wasn't playing well, but he was. Whatever the reason SB picked him, presumably because he thought he was good enough at that time to play
Let's all be grown ups about this ... and about probable relegation

Yes he's wrong, yes he's let himself down and yes he should be punished.

But he's a young lad in a high pressure public role who has obviously had a bad time.

    Everyone reacts different to stress.

When I was younger I use to drink myself to oblivion when my mum was ill.

I think some people seem to be missing the point.

Most of us don't have a privileged position earning millions for playing a game, for which the freedom of taking drugs must be sacrificed.

It's a bit having his cake and eating it. He's enough money and time on his hands there's absolutely no excuse for using/turning to drugs.

It's an insult to all the people who earn his weekly wage or less in a whole year, and have to take their jobs seriously.
