PAFC very quick with this....does it mean Sheridan is staying....would be strange to have a clear out if the manager leaves ? Released Jason Banton..........Don't agree. Dominic Blizzard..........ok with me. River Allen..........not given any chances. Matt Lecointe..........shame about his knee. Marvin Morgan..........gone already to be honest. Ollie Norburn..........no opinion really. Jamie Richards...........ok with me. Offered new Terms Lewis Alessandra......... ok. Tyler Harvey..........surprised seeing he doesn't get played. Anthony O'Connor..........ok. James Bittner..........surprised. Offered another season Aaron Bentley..........should go. Peter Hartley..........ok. Already under Contract Ryan Brunt. Lee Cox. Carl McHugh. Luke McCormick. Kelvin Mellor. Curtis Nelson. Ben Purrington. Reuben Reid. Deane Smalley. Loanees Returning to Parent Clubs Zak Ansah..........good. Tareiq Holmes-Dennis...........maybe not. Gethin Jones...........no thank you. Bobby Reid.........good but faded recently.
The releasing of this list by PAFC suggests to me that Brent is keeping Sheridan ......and Sheridan has decided who he is keeping and releasing. Very quick in doing this....looks like the management can't get away on holiday quick enough. Releasing Jason Banton I think is a mistake.....clearly Sheridan doesn't know how to use him....he was starting to show signs of what we know he can do. Banton & Blizzard were in Sheridans most important team last night.....and he is getting rid of both ??? Tyler Harvey has been ignored this season and gets offered a new contract. Luckily McCormick didn't miss many games....so on the strength of that he offers Bittner another contract...not sure about that. Offering Aaron Bentley an extended contact is surprising.....made a right cock-up when getting sent off. Peter Hartley another year I agree with. Of his under contract players Deane Smalley seems to be sidelined all the time....and Ben Purrington seems to just keep the subs bench warm. Of the loanees Zak Ansah can come back anytime he likes in my books.......Bobby Reid was a great loan....but has faded lately. Holmes-Dennis not consistent....and Gethin Jones not cracked up to be has good as we expected him to be. ........and personally if this means Sheridan is staying I cannot see the way ahead for Argyle....he has shown us over two years what he can do......and it ain't good enough......getting rid of Banton shows me that it could be dour and boring next season.....we need a spark and we need someone to ignite the likes of Banton as manager........
Sheridan is a clown with some of these. Harvey not played and not trusted to play yet wants him to stay. River Allen will do well and we are giving him away. You are right Plym ref Banton. Having criticised him myself it is true to say he has improved and was trying. Arguably one of our best when allowed on over the play off game. Wring manager not wrong player. He did quite well with loans but again isn't the man to inspire them. Couple of duffers but that's to be expected. Brent needs to have a serious think because I think you are right Plym, if this is Sheridan's list, and it must be, then he isn't going is he. Brent WILL regret it. The supporters deserve better than this.
Mmm not entirely convinced this is Sheridan's list.-odd that he wasn't quoted in the article. It was JB who thanked the players etc, in fact JS was conspicuous by his absence (although he might have already have done one oop north) . By and large though I agree with most of the decisions with the exception of Banton- this may be a wage saving thing? it is also odd that Tyler (who JS obviously doesnt rate) gets a contract but Blizzard (sheridans love child) doesnt. Smells to me that someone else at the club may have come up with this list which is a combination of some 'cheap' wages and some seasoned pros. I would have liked to have kept River Allen but I fear there may be a non football reason for releasing him (serious injury?). Most teams have already announced their retained lists so don't think this was done with undue haste- just delayed by the playoffs-can only be 6 or so weeks until pre season training starts!!
If Sheridan hasn't left the building permanently how can the list be anything else but his? For an owner to produce this without any say being given to the person they employ to do football things would be to totally undermine him. I agree it wasn't done in haste however but only delayed by circumstances. I've been reading pasoti and the absolute overwhelming vote is for Sheridan to leave. One of the best posts on the thread reads something like this:- Sheridan's first choice team over 2 legs lost 0 -5. Sheridan's second choice team won 0 - 3 over 2 legs. Doh!!!!! Also made reference to formation in that from 3 - 5 - 2 changing to a winning 4 - 4 -2. Seems though Sheridan can't see this even though the games are over now.
The Vital Plymouth Argyle website commenting about the players that have been released said......."that it was Jason Banton's wish to leave the club". Did PAFC just accept that or was he on their list anyway......I wonder what wage he was on....if Argyle wanted to release him it might of been because he was on a highish wage ?
The first one that should have been released after the Play off game should have been Sheridan.. As it has been said Brent has no Balls for that.. Mr Brent you need to grow a pair very soon!!
Talking about this list with my son today and he made a point ref Banton I admit I didn't think of. That is Banton wanted to go and had a better offer elsewhere which we couldn't/wouldn't match.
That would fit in wouldn't it with him wishing to leave.........He'll probably turn into a super star.....join C Palace and play with Puncheon and Bolasie.... those other Argyle drop-outs.
The point being that if he wanted to go we couldn't say no anyway as he was out of contract. I think perhaps the word "released" hides a lot as to which one was, the club by the player or the player by the club.
