Liverpool great - obviously. Premier League great - of course, despite never winning it. All time great? No chance, and not even close. That's how I see it. Fair play to the bloke though, I do really admire one club servants like him and I admire his attitude to that. He was a very good player indeed. What I find amusing now is that they are letting Gerrard go after not offering him a contract yet are being strongly linked with Pirlo. A player who is even older, has never played in England, has no affinity with Liverpool and would be on big wages. Only an utter bellend like Brendan Rogers could think up something like that. Probably thinks it's clever too.
Skysports did the same. Scholes was ripping it apart on around 43% so Skysports pulled the plug and took the poll off as it wasn't in keeping with the true spirit of today.
Was thinking the same earlier when I heard the rumour. I doubt that can be true as they'd have to be complete half-wits to consider it. Don't forget last season, many were arguing how Gerrard in his new role was better than Pirlo. Also agree, he was a quality player. And tbf deserved better players and manager around him. I think THAT must be the one thing that disappoints him. He must look around him and think, fck me I deserved better.
News is breaking that as a result of Crystal Palace and their evil mastermind Alan the pig Pardew not following the script today in Stevie G's last home game, Skysports, the BBC and Talksh1te are now doing a special week long build up to Gerrard's last game at Stoke
From BBC report of the game... Anfield's DJ set the tone with a pre-match playlist that was a musical tribute to Gerrard, from David Bowie's "Heroes" to the REM tune "The End Of The World As We Know It". At half time Gerrard went up and give him a slap as he wanted Slip Slidin Away by Paul Simon
We will have to suffer another week of this nonsense. Hilarious that they lost today. They really are in a mess.
Like this joke... 3 famous double acts playing today 1. Lennon and McCarthy for Everton 2. Kane and Abel at Tottenham 3. Gerrard and his Pacemakers at Anfield
No arguments there but what do Liverpool have now Sterling looks like a one trick pony, Henderson is a work horse and no where near the talent Gerrard had in his prime. Though they still have Flanagan and Sturridge with his dodgy hip.
The RS has been ineffective the whole season, since he slipped and lost the title for them. Never recovered from that again.
