A great game with 2 teams going for it. A shame the red card and penalty changed the complexion so badly, but a win's a win whatever the route. Ipswich were by far the best I have seen them for several years. If they keep their players and take that form into next season, they will be laughing to the Prem.
Just shows what a complete circus this play off malarkey is - the teams that finished 3rd and 4th will contest the final. Monster second half from you yellas, despite all that. Bloody marvelous
Was going to the Boro forum just in the spirit of even-handedness to wish them luck too, but I THINK there would be more activity in a an old folks home
I think I'm right in saying that this time the teams finishing 3rd and 4th have won through in all 3 leagues, which must be unusual. I saw someone suggest somewhere that in the event of a draw, instead of a penalty shoot-out the team who finished higher in the league should go through or up. For me this sounds a great idea, since it wouldn't spoil the game (in fact it would make it more exciting since one team would have to go for it) and it is fairer.
Back from my pub, just a 5 minute walk, but by the time I have read through all posts on this board it is over an hour since the game finished. Redmond, Howson, Jerome and Tetty, apart from one stupid tackle, were excellent, but my mom was , shock, horror, Whittaker. I thought he was a great outlet for any attacks on the right side, always showed for the ball, and was also mostly in defensive position when needed. I say mostly because he did get caught out a couple of times, but recovered well enough to help the rest of the defence to hold firm.
I just passed the ITFC team coach - bet the atmosphere there wasn't great. They had a police escort - is that really necessary?
Really hoping we go on and finish the job at wembley now but it's going to be a hard, hard game. Think the bigger pitch will suit us more. Credit to Ipswich, even when down to 10 men their players were hungry for it and never gave in. Hopefully we won't face them next season but if we do then both teams should be challenging at the right end of the table again. Ps mind the gap!!
Evening Guys, just back from the game and totally hoarse (pardon the pun) Op updated with some nice images from today's game at the bottom courtesy of the BBC All being well I intend to do a 'Wembley Special' MDT for next Monday, watch this space
