Wouldn't mind knowing how much we have spent over the same period and how many players we have bought.
Get Astro to do a graph for you. If he doesn't publish it you can rightly assume he didn't like what he saw!
Well, if this site is right, which is seems to largely be (http://www.transferleague.co.uk/pre...ague-tables/premier-league-table-1992-to-date) then we've spent around £760m since the PL started, on 104 players. Doesn't include the 91 and 92 seasons, so maybe add another £3m for Parker, Schmeichel, Kanchelskis and anyone else who arrived around then. So the big difference is really the number of players - we haven't spent as much on mid table dross like Liverpool tend to do, which has given us more to spend when competing for the top players. Their net spend is quite a bit lower, thanks to their now well established trend of selling all their best players rather than holding on to them for the long term.
Surprised that we don't have a Nigel Pearson or Leicester City thread and wasn't sure where else to put this. Brendan Rodgers interviews Nigel Pearson.
I've just watched Pearson's spat with the BBC journalist (this is a second spat after Ostrichgate). He's a nutter. Fair play to the journalist for taking him on though! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32543893
"I was more happy with the ovation from the Liverpool fans," said Gerrard. "Chelsea fans have had respect for a couple of seconds today but have slaughtered me all game. "I'm not going to get drawn into wishing Chelsea fans well. It was nice of them to turn up for once today." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/32520622 Classy little ****er, eh? Not bitter at all...
Got to say, I'm with Gerrard on this one. I actually agree with and admire his stance. Why be a hypocrite just because Chelsea fans are being hypocrites? Utterly false standing ovation from the Chelsea fans, **** em.
The most fake supporters in the premiership. On top of plastic flags they had even laminated their little Stevie slip cards ... They wouldn't recognise good footbal if it hit them between the eyes. That's why we've had some of the ******ed fans coming here to argue that Jose plays entertaining football
Just been made aware of a startling fact. Gerrard is Liverpool's top scorer in the league this season with 8 goals. They really are on the brink of total calamity.
Makes astrostattonut's claim about not wanting Lukaku seem even more bizarre. As underwhelming as Lukaku has been this year, he has more goals than any Liverpool player, and more goals than all four of their 'better than anyone but City's' strike force combined.
I see Stevie Me has cited Houllier and Brenton as his biggest managerial influences. The scousers must be fuming he didn't give Benitez some bum love...
There's a quiz on BBC Salford where you have to identify a team mate from each of the 17 seasons Slippy played for the Dippers. I got 16 out of 17 right. The comment at the end was - "You scored 16 out of 17. So near, yet so far. A bit reminiscent of last season..."
The Dippers are going to be in their element today. St Slippy Day. To be fair it's a big game for the lad. So he'll probably drop a clanger.
