    CF in front of RVP

    CF in a 4-4-2

    AWF in an Arshavin role

    Playing the RVP role

He's certainly going to add another dimension to our attack, where do you think he will be best used?

I have been looking at some world cup highlights to see this guy in action and I know I am wrong but he looks a donkey

But I did see henry's first Arsenal game against Leicester city and thought the same so if he ends up a 10th as good as henry were happy

When we (NUFC fans) thought/hoped he was joining us, we were of the opinion he was more of a winger than a CF?

Sounds more suited to 'the arshavin role' as you describe it, than any other.

He is from the same country as Eboue, who is a great mover, maybe his best position is on the dancefloor? <party>

I think you should play -

    Sagna - NEW CB/Djourou - Vermaelan - Gibbs
    -----------------Song
    ----------Fabregas - Nasri
    ------Gervinho - RVP - Arshavin

You can move around the front three and include Walcott, and move the midfielders around to fit in Wilshere

I'd also have Koscielney ahead of Djourou <ok>

*It's been a while so I may as well get it out of my system*

    Definitely the arse shaving role.

    No doubt.

Hmm, his good but seems a little liable at times. I guess if he has a good pre-season he can play ahead of Djourou but otherwise I'd play the tall fella.

I like the idea of Gervinho, RvP & Theo as a front 3. I'd like to see a LOT of interchanging - they can all finish well - and it'd keep the defense guessing as they won't know who they'll be facing at any time. It's why Barca were / are so deadly, their forward line can play any positions, meaning they can cut inside and shoot, go outside and cross, or be in the middle to receive.

As an Arsenal fan I hope your right Jayram but I doubt it.

Also do we really need another lightweight forward who cant score goals?
Seems like a completely ridiculous purchase if you ask me.

Likewise, and I'll happily be a humble pie eater if needs be.

There are many more positions I'd rather have filled than another 'fake' forward (my way of describing this new breed of non-winger, non striker) who's goal scoring exploits in France haven't set the world on fire. I think any other season and I'd have welcomed this signing with open arms but I'm bored of season after season of not fixing what, to me, seem obvious problems. To me this just seems to be jizzing away £15m to appease fans. I'm not appeased.

    last years full-stats were 43 appearances, 18 goals & 10 assists. i'd say that's pretty good for a fake forward personally :)

    Yup Spot on,

    It's a waste of money.

Instead of bringing in ANOTHER lightweight player from the french league (Waisting £10-12 Million) we could have spent the money required (£20 Million?) to secure the 'World Class' defender we so desperately need. Either that or a forward used to playing down the middle and capable of replacing RVP when the Dutchman is injured.

We conceded 43 league goals last Season. Rectifying that should really be Wenger's priority.

Pfft. In France... I bet Kalou would be prolofic in the French league. That's who I see Gervinho as, another Kalou.

I'm fickle though. If he turns out to be great I'll be disco dancin' with the rest of you pretending I've always rated him.
