and it looks similar to the Queen Alex - need something modern.

I'm not sure the assumption that a more basic structure would cost significantly less than the proposed design is a sound one either. The majority of the costs will be on the basic structure and the foundations which would be required anyhow. I like the look of it and it's about time we had another crossing and something a bit more inspirational than a clone of the A19 crossing at South Hylton - 70's style depressing concrete! Be great if they can get a pedestrian / cyclist crossing from Vaux site to the Sheepfolds as well ( think it was in the original plan for the regeneration but getting inward investment is quite hard as we all know )

We had an electrical problem outside our factory/office entrance a few months back, this is roughly the timeline.....

Day 1 : Truck with 3 workers comes and pulls some trees and shrubbery up.
Day 2 : Lorry drops off the roadwork barriers and sign
Day 2 : Another truck drops off 2 people who lift off the paving slabs.
Day 3 : Hole dug then temporarily covered
Day 4 : Electricians sort out problem
Day 4 : Another truck turns up and fills up hole.
Day 8 : Truck turns up for the 2 paving slabs to be put back down
Day 13 : Roadwork signs etc picked up

They didnt even sort out and replace the trees and grass that they ruined leaving our factory/office entrance looking rough! The hole that was dug was about the size of a 32" telly! They were only there for between 20 minutes to an hour each day! It could have took them 2 days tops!

I wonder if thats what the government have in mind in trying to stop money being wasted by councils.

Good job the NHS isn't run that way.

    Day 1 Admitted
    Day 2 X-Ray and bloods.
    Day 3 Pre-Ops
    Day 4 Operation
    Day 5 Post Op Recovery
Day 6 Back to the Ward
Day 7 Back to the theatre to remove the swabs left in by mistake
    Day 8 Discharge
    Day 9 Re-admission for post-op infection
    Day 10 Contact the Undertaker!

Interesting. I'd love to Project Manage this! I'll save the council money and tell them to spend the reserve on a statue of Sir Bob and whack it next to the bridge and make it bigger than the angel of the North..... On second thoughts, maybe I should stay away haha
