Exclusive: England international facing ban after failing drugs test in latest blow to relegation-threatened Premier League club

Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore has tested positive for cocaine and will not play again for Hull City this season.

Livermore, who has made one appearance for England, failed a random drug test after Hull’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last month

The club are expected to release a statement this afternoon, but it is a massive blow to manager Steve Bruce, whose side are desperately trying to avoid relegation.

Livermore, who came through Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy, was superb for Hull last season as they managed to stay in the top flight and also reach the FA Cup Final. But his form has dipped this term along with the rest of the Hull side.

    More to follow...

And I thought the mags and us were all over the shop. Hull having problems left right and center. Livermore has been ****e but it ain't going to help rock bottom morale.

If one`s been caught do they test the rest of the squad? Could be worse if it`s a social thing.

I wonder if Bruce has been smuggling the stuff in by swallowing it. Room for a few kg`s there like.

I don't believe this ...... sleeping tablets I'd believe but not cocaine <laugh>

Just what a team needs on the eve of their most important game this season.

I'd put money on Huddlestone being his 'sniff buddy'.

How long before one of the Hull supporters claims it's a conspiracy to relegate them?

The ability to play football at that standard is just wasted on most of them.

they fielded a player on drugs, that will affect performance. Could they reverse the result or something? Clutching at straw I know.

That's a nasty thought. I doubt it though. Is there a precedence?

And are you saying he tested positive for pork pies as well? Nasty bastard! That's just sick!
