The money came from Sky. The Allams only allowed the money to be spent on the Academy. They provided the money to get into the Premier League, yes, but the Academy money comes from our income not from the Allams.

Pennock would not be here if the Allams never sanctioned it,neither would he have had the finances to do it if the Allams had not sanctioned it,neither would he have had the staff to help him if the Allams had not sanctioned it nor would he be able to pay these staff if the Allams did not pay for it.

    Your point is ?.

I'll say it again. Does this mean we should accept Hull Tigers?

I'm pleased we've got it, but I can't celebrate the achievement of getting the improved academy status because of the way it was done.

In my view, the Hull Tigers application is academic. (no pun intended)

We're led to believe the application's the same, it's already been rejected, so it would take quite a shift in the interpretation of the rules for it to go through. More important is the name changes that have happened despite it being rejected.

Great news that the academy has been recommended for Cat 2. All credit and highest praise due to Adam and Eve, who without, none of this would have been possible.

On another note, does anyone have an idea of the deal with Bishop Burton? Is this academy on solid footing going forwards? If we were to be relegated, and not bounce back quickly, will the funding still be available to ensure its continuity? How much is the rent? Is it likely to be axed in the face of financial hardship?

I'm pretty sure the bible doesn't actually mention an apple, so it could very easily have been a cherry.

That's a good point. But when you look at the other clubs with the same status, I would think we should be fine.

The difference being, without knowing or checking, those clubs probably own their facilities, rather than them having to pay rent as extra expenditure.

I don't think relegation will have any bearing on the academy, the costs are not that high and long term the academy should fund itself anyway.

I think I've asked this before, but can't remember, how do we achieve cat 1 status?

I can't remember all the details, but I think you need to commit a minimum £2.5m a year, have at least 18 full time staff and a full size indoor pitch.

I would also like to thank the owners as well. Without their fantastic backing and support, none of this would have been possible. I have had the opportunity to spend time working with both Assem and Ehab, and they are fully committed to the Academy. They understand the importance of it and have both played a major role in helping us achieve Category Two status. I have been delighted by their support.

All this thinking about the future it makes you wonder if Allam is really trying to sell the club.

Southampton spent £30m on their academy, it has a bubble pitch and swimming pool. The plan is to have a players hotel on site. Players are expected to spend the night before every game (home or away) with the club.

    It's good news
But not news that I find it possible to celebrate due to the appalling way it has been achieved
Ends don't justify the means for me

Anyway I'm on my way to Spurs...I'm bet I'm still late to the ground!

Obviously it's one of the best in the country and player sales have already covered it's cost, it might take Man City a little longer to recoup their costs, they've just spend £200m building theirs.
