Independent inspectors for the Premier League and Football League spent four days on site with the Academy at Bishop Burton College in April to audit the club’s application for Category Two status. In its draft findings, received yesterday, the Academy has been “recommended for Category Two status”. This initial report will be followed up with a meeting between Academy Manager Tony Pennock and the auditors on Wednesday 27th May. This meeting will see the production of a final report of the auditors’ recommendation, which will then go to the Professional Game Board (PGB) who will make the final decision on the club’s Academy status ahead of the 2015/16 campaign. As a result of the recommendation, the Academy will be in a stronger position to attract new young players and will receive more central funding, as well as competing against better opposition week in, week out at Under-21, Under-18, Under-16 levels, and all the way down to Under-9s. “We are delighted with the news,” said Pennock. “It has been a long and hard process but it has certainly been worth it. We went through our formal re-audit in April and have now received the news that we have achieved the appropriate standard to become a Category Two Academy. “It’s not easy to get Category Two status – it takes a lot of hard, quality work. It is a very stringent audit process but we have gained real value from doing it and it has helped us add to and improve our programme. This news enables us to build on our reputation as a really good club for young footballers to come to, progress and develop. “If we want to attract the best young talent we have to keep taking steps in the right direction, something we have done very well in the last 15 months, and a lot of good things have come out of it. We’re all very pleased, although there is still plenty more hard work ahead for myself and everyone involved with the Academy as we look to continue to improve in all areas. We want to push on with the main job, which is developing players. Ultimately that’s what it’s all about. It's not going to happen overnight and it is very much a long-term project but that's the target for us all.” The achievement of securing a recommendation for Category Two status comes after many months of hard work from Academy staff, and Pennock was quick to praise everyone involved in helping the club achieve its goals at youth level. “A lot of effort has gone in over the course of the last 15 months and every single person involved has been fantastic. Academy staff have worked tirelessly to achieve this result and I am grateful for the sacrifices they have all made. Steve Bruce, along with his first team staff, have also been very helpful throughout the whole process and I can’t thank them all enough for their support and assistance. “I would also like to thank the owners as well. Without their fantastic backing and support, none of this would have been possible. I have had the opportunity to spend time working with both Assem and Ehab, and they are fully committed to the Academy. They understand the importance of it and have both played a major role in helping us achieve Category Two status. I have been delighted by their support. “You've only got to look at the investment that has been made at Academy level since I came here in February last year to see what the owners want to do for this club. When I was appointed, I was only the tenth full-time member of staff at the Academy but now, just 15 months later, we have almost triple that number on the books at Bishop Burton. We all want this club to be successful and the Academy is vitally important for our future.” Reflecting on the recommendation that the Academy should gain Category Two status, vice-chairman Ehab Allam added: “This is brilliant news for the club and everyone within the Academy deserves a lot of credit for this achievement. We know how much it means to our supporters to see a player come through the youth system and play for the first team. We share that passion. I would like to congratulate Tony, along with all of the coaches and staff at the Academy. They have all played a crucial role in what is a major step forward for us.” http://www.hulltigersacademy.com/news/independent-audit-recommends-academy-for-category-two-status
Excellent news. Congratulations to everyone involved. Our youth was never going to get near the first team whilst they were playing against Hartlepool and Grimsby reserves and the like. This is a really big deal for the club.

Hopefully local lads Clark, Clappison and Dixon will benefit next season as a result of this news. It would be great to them being given the chance to make the step up, Christ knows there good enough! Anyway great news for all concerned with the academy.
Great news for everyone who worked hard to achieve this Cat 2 ,and Thanks go to the Allams for making this possible.
It was Steve Bruce who demanded the investment from the Allams and made them aware of the importance of our academy. But yes Allam has made the funds available and for that we should be grateful. Does this mean I'll now accept the name change? No, get to **** !
We should be Grateful to the Allams for everything they have done for the club and the community, they are by far the best owners this club has ever had loans or not they have invested to take the club as high as they can and i believe it when they say they want the club to be a top half team surviving off it's own finances. Everyone makes mistakes and just imagine what these people would want to achieve with all the supporters behind them. As far as steve bruce demanding the investment well you can demand a new car but does not mean you will get it.
It was Tony Pennocks very hard work over 14 months that made it happen. But if you're going to be like that, I'd suggest all of us with sky or BT have paid for it as that's where the money originally came from.
