No, but you can swap the Big Mac for a salad, and the 2 litre bottle of coke for water. The truth is everybody is different. Food really doesn't excite me the way it does some people. I haven't eaten fast food, sweets, or drank soft drinks for years, so when I see people eating unhealthy food excessively, of course I can't understand it, just like non-smokers can't appreciate a smoking addiction.

I'd say the best thing to do for people who eat too much, is to get a hobby and do some exercise. There really is no excuse for laziness. I would even say I'm addicted to exercise. If I don't go for a run at least every couple of days I begin to feel guilty. I play other sports too. And next week I'm signing up to a squash club. I've never played it before, but if it gets me out of the house then it's job done. Also (sorry to preach), but I haven't owned a television for the past six or seven years. That's another unhealthy addiction people have. Get rid of it, and your life should improve.

You only have one body and if you don't look after it and be careful about what you put in it you are going to be in trouble. When you are living out your last minutes dying of lung cancer it must be terrible thinking "If only I had stopped smoking then I would not be dying at this moment". I still find it astonishing that people smoke. With all the facts about the serious dangers people still smoke. They must be stupid or thick FFS. The bit about smokers I hate is that they stink, make places stink and blow their poisonous smoke around other people. Personally I am astonished anyone can afford to smoke given the price of them.

If you need an addiction then let it be intolerance.

That's rather condescending. People also gamble, drink, take drugs, drive over the speed limit and eat unhealthy food knowing the risks. I smoke and will look to quit later in the year but its not as simple as just stopping. The mix of chemical dependency and established habitual behavior is incredibly strong so you cant just say 'Why don't they just stop?'

A lot of people will quit when the time is right for them....some wont and suffer the consequences but unless you've done it yourself you have idea now hard it is and are therefore in no position to pass judgment.

Very sad - a huge influence on me when I was growing up. Made me realise what the blues really meant and could make "Lucille" talk almost. Was privileged to see him perform at his club in NY in 2000 - magical night. RIP The King of the Blues - gigging with Gary Moore, Rory and Jimi as we speak ................

I agree, Tommo. I'm afraid I'm intolerant to smokers, but up to a point. I have 2 good friends who smoke and I wish they wouldn't, but I accept that it's very hard to stop. I won't indulge their habit by buying duty free (they now know to stop asking!) and I nag occasionally, but I know they're trying to cut down and the day they quit I'll be there to offer support. It IS an awful habit, but it's chemical dependency and not easy to stop. One of them has gone to e-cigs to try and stop - hope she can!!

Can't understand why I can't get my guitars to sound like that. Think it's called "lack of talent" :emoticon-0105-wink:

I agree with you, but I also agree with Godders on some of his post, it stinks - that was enough to stop me smoking in the first place.

Man, you're pushing LTL for the coolest "old" music person I know ... along with my 47 year old DJ'ing cousin.

I may be killed at some point today. I thought it was safe to make a joke about Cheltenham's relegation.

I can't stand apologists any more than I can tolerate smokers. Get a ****ing grip and take control of your life. I feel really belligerent today.

Well I'm sorry, Mr. Perfect. You've never done anything harmful to your body? Not even one can of cola or pint of beer? Regarding the bad smell issue, I agree, but I make sure I only ever smoke when I am alone, and never in a place where it will affect others. Now if you have nothing positive to say on this subject, then please don't say anything. You make me want a cigarette.

Everything I have said is positive. Weak people always blame others. I am not in control of your habit you are. Don't make me your excuse.
