7.05 Aintree. VIRGILIO 13-8. Won easily on Saturday and due to go up 20 lbs (yes, that's TWENTY pounds!). Not much else to say apart from odds against seems like it won't last.

Just what I've been thinking too. Better to put down things you actually fancy and are backing, otherwise it's no different to a newspaper?

All the best with Harristown the Don. Can't resist a little ew at the price. Main bet though is on Perfect Candidate in the 7.40 at Aintree. Competitive race but PC ran well for a long way in the 4 miler at the festival. Also ran well enough behind Generous Ransom and the lovely Rebecca's Irish Cavalier previously. More to come from this one and at 12s is worth an ew poke. Good luck all, but especially Harristown.

Michael Bell got a great start as a trainer when he inherited the 3yo Path of Peace when he first set up. He didn't do as well with her as Paul Cole had done but she still won the Fred Darling in the early days of his training career. Today he runs her granddaughter Rosecomb at Newmarket. I'm sure she'll know what to do this afternoon.
Picking 2yos first time out is a dangerous game and I'm going to play it by suggesting Golden Hello from the same stable at Newbury. Both are worthy of each way support. If they both run badly Bell is going to have to think seriously what juveniles he has this year. His first 2yo runner Academy House put in a pleasing effort at the Guineas meeting.
I'm also interested in Pack Together in the fillies listed race at York. Hannon runs two but the other filly who has already run is passed over by Moore. Pack Together looked useful first time out but ran a funny race 2nd time out. Hopefully there'll be none of those wrinkles today.
Seems I'm getting into the fillies today so I'm going to suggest Lucy Wadham's Bari in Newbury's getting out stakes to round things off.

    Good luck to all.

Can Brown Panther give 5lb to last years Derby 3rd Romsdal in the Yorkshire Cup? I can't see it. That thing of Stoute's might be more of a danger, but will probably need the run.

In the Fillies stakes, "some turn towards mecca to pray, but I towards thy bed Yasmeen".

The last day of the Dante meeting and the handicaps look as avoidable as the first two days, although it might be worth noting the 2:40 winner as last year it threw up Arab Spring.

The line-up for the Yorkshire Cup is a little disappointing numerically and Brown Panther’s Group 1 penalty is not enough to give Havana Beat much chance of reversing Meydan placings. Whilst Snow Sky has reportedly been working well, he will have to be very sharp first time up as this looks an excellent opportunity for race-fit ROMSDAL, whom I expect to make all under William Buick, well practised in stealing races from the front.

In the Michael Seely Memorial at 3:45, there are a number of fillies with big race entries and that appears to be what the market is based upon. There is no doubt that Sperry and Yasmeen could be Group fillies in a Listed race, as could The Queen’s filly Pack Together. Richard Fahey’s Realtra steps up in trip and grade but at the available odds, I am with Newmarket maiden winner CEASELESS as that was a decent race and she had good two-year-old form.

Morning, you types. Another good days racing at York.

In the card commencer (2.10) I like Mark Johnston’s DELIZIA. Her trainer knows what to do when he gets a decent 2YO filly and this one certainly looked that on debut at Wolverhampton last month. Quickened very nicely and looks a decent sort. In the Yorkshire Cup it pains me to say this but I think the horrendous ‘little’ Michael Owen will take home the 1st place prizemoney with BROWN PANTHER (3.15). His Group 1 penalty means he has to give weight away but I think he is a much better horse than his rivals whom some may think are better than they actually are just because they placed in some decent heats last year. Finally, in the very good 3YO fillies Listed event (3.45) I’ll go with SPERRY. Won a conditions heat at Ascot very nicely last time and she can take this en route to a return to Berkshire for the Coronation Stakes next month.

Like these but they don’t compare to the bet of the year tomorrow. The ‘group horse in a handicap’.

    Good luck all.

SBC .. Once again I am consumed with laughter .. your posts are like a ray of sunshine in a sometimes dark world ... fully agree on Brown Panther and had the misfortune of seeing the small footballer at Chester last week .. he was full of his own impotence (deliberate) and happy to give Brown Panther as a tip ...now then - give me a clue on the horse for tomorrow ?

He’s got the best jockey in the business riding him and is trained in Wiltshire. Plus I think I’ve tipped him every time he’s run thus far. Give me a few mins and I’ll put it on tomorrow’s thread.
