Pellegrini trolling the Chavs

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by PINKIE, May 4, 2015.

  1. As a neutral in all of this, I'm not sure which brand of football has been the most boring - the anti-football of Arsenal (when they used to win things) or Chelsea's (now that they have replaced Arsenal)?

It's a tough call, but I have to say, if I am being honest, that I did find Arsenal incredibly dull. They even had their own song, "boring, boring Arsenal!" That kinda gives it away.

I believe we established in another thread that I've actually supported my club longer than you have yours. The plastic, johnny come lately comments are just lazy.

If you can't keep up with the debate and facts presented, sit this one out lad.

Unfortunately Arsenal87 is not old enough to remember the Goerge Graham days...probably the most boring title winners ever playing at the quietest stadium in the league (the library). However when you look at the low number of goals scored by even Arsene's title winning teams, it just shows what a falsehood it is that Arsenal ever played attractive football.

George Graham's Arsenal scored 74 goals in 38 games to win the league in 1991 and 73 in 38 games in 1989. Chelsea have so far scored 70 in 36 games. Not surprising the stats are similar.

    United scored 67 from 42 games to win the league in 93, 73 in 96, 76 in 97, 74 in 2003.
    And 68 in 2009.
Their worst totals under Fergie with expensive sides were 58 in 2005 and 63 from 42 games in 92.

    Fergie only managed 58 from 42 games in 91 too, 46 in 90, 45 in 89.

Admittedly these seasons were before Sky when United were not successful so you would not remember them.
arsenal's title-winning goals hauls were more than respectable for the time

Took you longer than usual to bring United into the discussion but fair play for doing the research, even (randomly!) including seasons when we didn't win the league. How many goals did we score in 1978 and 1984?

Always happy to educate you on your own club No One.

You scored 78 goals to win the league in 2010/11

You should probably spend less time digging up stats on United, QPR, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal and more time getting to grips with Chelsea. It might stop fellow Chelsea fans calling you on being an embarrassment to their club! Poor Katie, put on the naughty step by one of her own!

How many goals did United score in 1986 (calendar year not season) and what was the total number of QPR away fans who attended matches in the 1974/75 season? More crucially, how many away tickets did QPR return that season?

Imagine only scoring 68 goals to win the league (2009) or 67 in a 42 game season (1993)
    Now that would be shameful.

73 goals (96) and 74 (2003) at least matches Arsenal.

59 goals is not enough to win the league though (2005)

103 goals was enough for Chelsea to win the league in 2010: a Premiership record. United hold the record for the fewest goals in a title winning Premiership season though, despite the four extra games!!

More United research! Good work old man.

How many QPR fans attended their third away game of the 1964/5 season? That's got to be worth it's own thread (on the Chelsea board). Crack on Katie!

    No.

Just giving Hazard growth hormone and feeding him raw steak to convert him to back-up centre-half.

  17. Wow! There's been a lot of wum-slaying on this thread! Gooner fishes getting netted all over the place! It kinda makes me feel a little nostalgic, now that I've put my Wum Master antics behind me.

Research or no research it certainly puts to bed any argument that this current Chelsea side is any more' boring' than most of the title winning sides United or Arsenal have put out.

What's unquestionable is that Chelsea and City sides have been the most entertaining title winners with 100 plus goals in a season.

Amazing that United only scored 68 goals 08/9. Who was up front that season: ronaldo Rooney Tevez.

People forget how good United's defence was then with Rio vidic etc
