What they've done is no less than mental torture. It sickens me that people find this funny.

Good grief..! That's incredibly unfeeling. Are some people in responsible jobs born with zero empathy and compassion..?

Clarke Carlisle admits to homophobia and sexism, in addition to multiple counts of drink driving and stealing someone's bank card.

    What a wonderful bloke.

Just read this on the BBC homepage, and what a dreadful thing to do. In what way could that be the slightest bit funny?

It may not be the biggest ship in the world, but it is the 3rd biggest container ship ever, and it's registered in Southampton:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32732206

Play the video. The bit that made me go wow, was when the relative sizes were revealed. First a small car, a truck, upto a 747, through to a new British aircraft carrier, then the Queen Mary II, and then the WOW..! The Kerguelen.

I liked the part where he said it's as big as 4 football pitches... or 3 footballers' houses.

Cheers for all the quitting advice and support guys. I've decided to opt for will power alone. Well, that and bloody bollocks-loads of red wine. Starting tomorrow.

And the port of registry on the stern is about the only British part of this ship. She is owned by a French company and flagged in the UK under the so-called Tonnage Tax system. Built in Korea and with a full foreign crew, even the Master is Russian. These ships might appear large but they roll like hell and in very bad weather container stacks break their lashings, fall over and go often overboard.

Fair point, but I meant in the political/ social comment sense.

That's a good song, good enough for me to investigate them further...can you suggest any albums?
Reminds me a bit of Hüsker Dü, who i'm a big fan of....

Good luck Susan! I've never quit something like this so don't have any experience advice. I'd say take each day and try and get through it. The first week will be the toughest and then it's just breaking the habit. Whenever you get the urge to have a smoke. Drink a glass of water instead (think that's a weight loss tip, but hey, why not try it).
There may well be days where you slip up and have a smoke. Don't let that deter you, oh well I've had one now I might as well start again next week. Nah, screw that. Slip ups happen. Draw a blue line under it and get straight back into it. You can do it!! Good luck.

I agree completely with this. I'd rather have a proper keyboard when on here or doing e mails etc. Tablets are good for looking up things quickly on the web and for mobility. The one I have guesses what you are typing and then looks up what it thinks you mean. :headbang: You have to remember to look at what word is highlighted and change it before tapping send.....I always forget :emoticon-0121-angry. This usually results in me tapping it harder in frustration which then makes it freeze. :(

Oh wow! BBC one series called "Shark" .... They've just shown a recent discovery near Mexico of Whale sharks and Manta Rays gathering together to feed. 800 whale sharks in a half mile spot. Wow.

The whale shark is my favourite creature.

Cheers, LTL. Will give it a good listen and, from the first track, think I'm going to enjoy it. Great voice ..............
