Thats a valid point. He did very well with what he had but I think the car was never capable of a win or podium.

This is nothing personal Mifune, but in my opinion, what you say here is completely unfounded! - It is unfortunate that anyone should ever hold such a compromising view, which may come as a result of people looking over shoulders, concerned that others may have thoughts such as those you express here!

On topic of Hamilton, his car was just very slow this weekend. He did all he could but McLaren let him down.

He is usually quick in wet conditions, so in the first phase of the race he was able to overtake other drivers with less confidence, and quickly pass the Ferrari's while they struggled with tyre temperature. At that point, there wasn't much more he could have done.

When the track started drying a bit more, the weaknesses of the MP4-26 were exposed. Alonso got his tyre temperatures up and easily re-took the position. The Ferrari was so much faster that even with the undercut, Hamilton still couldn't get ahead of Alonso. He then found himself ahead of Vettel, and defended as best he could. You could argue he was moving a bit too much (not weaving) on the straights, but he did prevent a faster car overtaking him on the track. Even before the fuel saving Alonso was almost 2secs per lap faster. Whether Webber would've passed him without his fuel problems is debatable, but once the track started to dry, I think 4th was the maximum for Hamilton.

    also:

    - Buttons retirement was the end of string of point finishes in the last 10 races
    - after that retirement it also means both Red Bull drivers are the only people to complete every lap of every race this season
    - Alonso is now equal with Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill and Stirling Moss with 19 Fastest Laps
    - Webbers 8th pole puts him equal with Surtees and Patrese.
    - It was Vettels 14th consecutive front row start
    - This was Buttons 200th race (but only 198 starts after missing the 2003 Monaco Gp and indy 2005)
    - Danial Ricciardo's debut ment there was two aussies on the grid for the first time in 34 years
    - 7th is Perez's best result so far
    - Alguasuari's 3rd points finish in a row is a personal best

Also is it the first time ever that there was an Aussie at the front and the back of the grid?

I have to agree with mifune here. Whats more I feel Hamilton knew that this was the situation he would create and knew what he was doing by making his comments. His comments immediately after the race yesterday "i have a platinum card for the stewards office" are him keeping up the pressure by constantly pre-empting the stewards decision and letting them know that they will appear to be victimising him should he be penalised.

Its clever, il give him that!

Well Jacky, it's great that these different points of view make life interesting isn't it?!

I hear what you are both suggesting. I just don't hold a similar view. I also believe that expressing such a view, even if it is entirely correct, exacerbates the whole problem of 'political correctness' which can easily be exploited in the manner you are suggesting, if people have a mind to do it in the first place.

But for now at least, I'm giving credit to Hamilton for not seriously believing what he said; but just making a very foolish joke - which of course, was always bound to create repercussions such as seen in this conversation between us, for example.

Im not talking about the joke, im referring to his constant insinuations about his treatment at the hands of the stewards. He has mentioned it before Monaco, we had the infamous Monaco outburst and he made reference to it again yesterday when he was at risk of a penalty.

I simply believe that it is a daring tactic to hike the pressure up on the stewards increasing the likelihood of them deciding that it will cause much less trouble to let his on track incidents pass without punishment.

OK, Jacky: you win. ;) You're right; I am focussing on the concrete evidence of his foolish joke, rather than reading an interpretation into any other of his actions.

My point is that it is discussions such as these which create the necessary environment for the very thing you are concerned about. Lewis Hamilton should look at the big picture shouldn't he? - Just like us in a forum eh?

The way I see it, highlighting potential problems in the public domain can actually provide the ground which presents the possibility for this potential to become realised!

both massa and Domenicali believe it was a racing incident.infact most ppl do.so i dont see what he was supposed to be punished for.

it was great entertainment which made me jump from my seat, just like his overtake of alonso.

the best races this season have had crashes.

    It was good.

Nothing will touch Canada this year, unless it really is a good one, butI think it was just better than China and we know what a good race that was...

    1st Canada
    2nd Britain
    3rd China
    4th Spain
    5th Monaco
