Was I the only one who thought Nolan would be rubbish in the Prem?

He has certainly proved me wrong, his goals have been vital. I just thought he seemed slow, overweight and would be out-classed in the prem. The season we went down he, like everybody else, seemed lethargic and I was concerned it would be the same.

I didnt expect him to score many goals at all and expected him to be outpaced and outclassed, he has been outpaced and at times outclassed to an extent but has done very well and is the top english midfield goalscorer in the league, fair play him hes exceeded expectations, long may it continue!! HWTL!!

I was talking to one of my mates about Nolan the other night and he said he would sell him in the summer.

    I was appalled.

Great footballing brain, in the right place at the right time, fantastic leader on and off the pitch and a fantastic captain. Best captain we've had since Shearer, I mean fat Sam had Geremi as a captain!

I can't praise Nolans qualities to the team enough.

I don't think he'll have more than 3 seasons left in the top flight in his locker, but his contribution over the last 18 months has been astonishing.

Same. Thought simply he wasn't good enough because of his severe lack of pace, real lack of agility on the ball, not known for his passing(which is actually pretty decent to say the least), thought he would always get over-run, dribbled passed or simply be out-passed through most matches, defensively found out wanting, lack of stamina also a issue & his overall CM play wasn't up to Premier League class.

But I've been surprised a LOT! He's got great strength, decent passer, brilliant captain, good leader, very vocal, respectful, hard-worker(most of the times), very good footballing ''brain'', good determination, desire & commitment to put his body on the line(except Stevenage game) & least but not last.. a terrific goalscorer!

He always seems to be in the right place at the right time, whether from a rebound, a corner or a freekick.

A true "Fox in the box".

I think if he had a bit of pace he'd be a fantastic striker, but as it is he can play in midfield where Tiote covers any mistakes and he can get into the box when it suits him without the pressure of being an out and out striker. Very pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I thought he'd be the weak link in our midfield with him getting dropped in favour of HBA...Couldn't justify dropping him at all now!

Ashamedly, it's only been in the last month or so that I've accepted that Nolan is well worthy of his place. Love the guy but his lack of pace stood out in the championship, never mind the premier league. However he seems to have taken excellently to the responsibility of the captaincy and is now a crucial part of our side. He also works excellently with Carroll

To be fair, his stock is sky high right now. He's the top scoring midfielder in the Premier League, I could see someone desperately offering over £10m for him. As important as he is you'd be mad not to consider that offer. Personally I think Graham Dorrans is a better footballer than Nolan, he's also five years younger and I bet there are teams in the EPL who would pay us a lot more for Nolan than WBA would accept for Dorrans.

I agree with the OP though. He's been brilliant this season, contrary to what I expected of him. I honestly felt he was behind Guthrie in the pecking order over the summer. Funny how things change.

Well funnily enough , I think the chicken dance is one of the most important things for us this season. The lads were having some fun before the start of the season , building the team spirit etc. You saw it with all the tashes a lot of the players had and Nolan decided he would do the chicken dance. And we all love it!

AG.. you're having a laugh right?

    10m for a 28 year old?

He wouldn't get into any of the top four teams, Liverpool wouldn't pay that sort of money for him, same with Everton & the rest of the EPL teams simply wouldn't pay that money.

I'll CONSIDER 6m to say the least, he isn't nowhere near a good enough CM to LACE Cesc Fabregas' boots!

There's a reason Bolton sold him!

whatever price we been offered for him, we wouldn't sell him anyway, he the only player i think is a good captain, even if we did who would make a good captain?
