Now they've been caught trying to hack their way into Gordon Brown's sick son's medical records. He suffers from cystic fibrosis.

They'll no doubt try to justify it by saying that the health of the PM's son is in the national interest.

in my opinion, the aforementioned so called "newspapers" are a disgrace. these so called defenders of morality have been well and truely caught with their pants down.

i couldnt care less which film/pop/rock star/footballer has been caught out doing the dirty, it has absolutely no bearing on my life.

politicians are fair game however, to a point. these people decide how you and i live our lives. if they are corrupt, they should be exposed.

However, these latest revelations into Gordon Browns son ( if true ),well, its absolutely disgusting. this grates with me particularly, i lost a good friend to CF in 1980, she was 15 years old.

i can only hope that people wise up and see these tabloid papers for what they are, the sun and TNoTW are one and the same.

my advice to everyone is to get your minds out of the gutter press, dont support them!

afterall, who else is going to babysit the babysitters?

its in our hands guys,at the end of the day its up to us.

time to wise up me thinks.

The setter of the last NoTW cryptic crossword had some pretty lame digs at Brooks.

I would just have done a massive dump on her desk.

There are no doubts that what the NOTW has done is despicable. But I am amazed at people reaction, what do you expect.

How is it different to what the mail says about Immigrants, or any journo from the sun who gives his 2 pence worth about a football tragedy, or pierce morgan (the mirror) with the false pictures?

The 'disgusted' public is what these ****s feed, the need to know who's shagging who and what everyone is wearing

The politicians love to have the media on side to jsutify their actions and to spread fear amongst the populas, then complain if its them being the centre of attention

This was inevitable and the disgust being shown is imo disgusting

the chickens have come home to roost

its no different, that was my point.

wheather it be the mail, the times, the sun or tnotw.

remember when Diana died? how everyone went on about how she was hounded by the press, only then to go out and buy the latest edition with the pull out Diana memorial special?

its the same thing happening all over again.

once again, i pose the question,

    who REALLY holds the power?

it really does boil down to us or them.

    by the nation generally

i appreciate that individually people are different and will have shown disgust as a whole, generally though these vermin make money because there is demand for the shoite they write.

ironically i think some of the populas is showing outrage because the media is showing outrage. it would have been interesting if other media outlets had said 'well we have to innit'

a lot of the brits would be saying 'they ave to innit'

i think you make a fair point,

however, when is the time to make a stand?

    if not now, when?

Would people have been disgusted if they knew HOW the NoTW managed to get their stories and if they did would they have carried on buying the paper?

    I suspect they would.

I am all for making a stand. I think this nation is a nation of pussies now. I go to other countries and I see the unity between the masses when they dont like what the govt is doing. Here if teachers go on strike the media go to work on behalf of the govt and the private sector come out and criticize. This becomes a public v prvate fight, the govt does what it wants and then attacks the other sector and we start again

I wish people would make a stance, however is that a stance that 'people' are making or 'sheeple' following the media?

Not sure tbh. possible in theory, however as someone mentioned above somewhere when diana died there was as much if not more outrage. It went to the highest echolons. There was mass hysteria

end result - nothing really changed imo

    The monarch.

If the Palace puts out a statement along the lines of "one does not approve", then Murdoch's ****ed.

There's no way Cameron or any other politician will take a course of action that the queen disapproves of. Especially if the electorate agrees with her. So it might be time for Lizzie to pull rank.
