Yes I agree - If Thatcher had averted a war like Callahan did the Tory press would have been all over it proclaiming what a great statesman (statesperson to be PC!) she was.

Relic, this is just about the application of polite language. The monarch doesn't "follow advice". She has no say in the matter at all and can't not sign anything put in front of her by parliament. To do so would cause a constitutional crisis for the monarchy, not Parliament, for the very reason it hasn't been done since Parliament assumed absolute authority of the Executive.

I'm genuinely surprised at your position on this Billy, the fact that it was outside the exclusion zone, just for the fact your an ex-serviceman.

Just goes to show you shouldn't make assumptions about anyone. <ok>

Well I preferred to be operational than stuck at the depot in Aldershot but that act was just plain wrong.
The British underestimated the Argentine air force & they hit back big style.
One of those ships was carrying air transport which went down.
Because of this the Marines had to do 60 mile yomp across marsh land.
Not to mention the considerable loss of life which may well have been avoided.
We won through in the end thanks to the Marines & Paras but it was touch & go for a while.

Shows the folly of nukes for me, Billy. The Argies invaded so we were left with the options of letting them keep the islands, sending a taskforce to get them back, or nuking Buenos Aires. We need more in the way of conventional forces IMHO...

Which are being made redundant whilst relying on the Territorials to make up the numbers.

Argentina never threatened us with or had nuclear weapons, so why on earth would that have been an option? However, there are some very volatile countries that do have them or want to develop them, hence the reason why I believe we need them ourselves..

Treading over old ground here imo..

IS, North Korea and a cornered Russia are our problem now in that order the way I see it..

Take a look btw at Russia's ever new friendship with China? Been observing this for a while now..

They have always been massively nuclear powered as have India..

The IS must have Pakistan in their sights as they have done on the Mexican border with Florida. It's an evil that just seems to be getting ignored and in my opinion simply because the threat is there in every City in the world for simply allowing any genetic garbage in with a sob story..
