How many minutes was he on the pitch and what was his hair like? Tee-shirt and gloves, socks pulled right up?

Rubbish ^^^^^ this. The selling of Shane Long was very good business. Long has hardly set the world on fire @ Southampton.

As for Hernandez, he needs more time.

In the first, he played 69 minutes(replaced by Zamora), his hair was quite neat, his socks pulled up and he wore no gloves...

In the second, he played the full 90 minutes, he wore no gloves, his hair was a bit scruffy, but his socks were pulled up...

Based on the pictures above, I'd say the weather wasn't bad, slightly overcast, but not raining.

More time to what? settle in, learn the language, bulk up, get up to match fitness, adapt to the English way of playing and all the others.
Time has almost run out, and Brucie thinks so little of him he can't even get a start. He's a 10 million write off.

I agree with you on Long ( almost ) buying for 6 and selling for 12 looks good, how good he would have been for us we will never know.

I would like to know and I am sure someone will provide the information of how many consecutive starts AH has actually had , I bet its no more then two. He hasn't had a consistent run of games for me to prove his worth. We build players up to be world beaters far to quickly nowadays and write them off to quickly also in my humble opinion for what its worth.

Except £4m of the profit was invested back into Hernandez, of which we'll probably be lucky to get £5m back. So whichever way you look at it - it has been very poor business. We traded a steady Eddie PL centre forward for a £10m gamble - which hasn't paid off. For us a £10m player should start every game - he's a bench player at best.

N'Doye was decent business - Jelavič was decent business - Hernandez was piss poor.

Hernandez scored in his first game for us I believe. An incredible header from a guess who cross from the right.

On the other hand Hernandez is much younger than both of Jelavic and N'Doye. If he stays with us and we go down and Jelly and N'Doye leave (get some money while they are still not too old) then its possible he would find his feet (he certainly has the ability-Telegraph report via Everton "Hernandez was irresistible"-just needs to show it on a consistent basis).

Which he hasn't. Which is why he's bench material. If he thinks the PL is tough - he'll love the competitive physicality of the Championship won't he? Oh, wait.....Write off and a waste of time.

Agree with you on this, I think the point a lot of people are missing is we've bought big with abel, then to be told by SB he needs time to adjust, fair enough, that is if your an established PL club and can afford to have 10 million sat on the bench, we cant ,one lesson learnt maybe for the future, is if were going to spend big maybe it will be better to do it nearer to home.

No but he may in time. Not everyone can start off at 18 and be an instant hit like say Rooney, most are like Kane or like someone who played for City-Stuart Pearson. Watched him come through the ranks at City and at the start, never thought much of him (in fact in the beginning most City supporters thought he was crap), but as time wore on and he gained more experience he was obviously getter better and I along with others warmed to him. And as you know others more in the know than I warmed to him and he went on to Man U and the England team. He scored 55 goal in 139 appearances for Man Un, 38 in the first division after scoring 44 for City in 129 appearances.

Hernandez strength is his pace. He needs through balls played to him so he run in behind the defence. The only service he gets from our midfield are hoof balls, or short passes to his feet with his back to goal.
He will score a lot of goals in a future team with more capable passers.

I think his pace is a bit of a myth. He's not slow by any means but neither is he blistering quick like you might think from how his speed is talked up in reviews. You're right about the delivery he needs though in my opinion, but I think his strength in that regard is his movement. Watch him play, always looking to run off the shoulder but the ball never arrives. I think that's a fair chunk of the reasons he's looked so anonymous thus far.

In other words, like Altidore, he has to have the goal laid on for him - otherwise he can't score.
