Another major earthquake has hit Nepal. 7.4 on Richter scale (the last one was 7.8). Awful, awful news.
As Frankie Howerd used to say - "it's you who's got a dirty mind, missus ...." - it's all double-entendre and used to be ok, didn't it?
Saw LTL beat me to it. Experts did warn this was going to happen and the authorities did nothing about it (they were told before the first quake).
Luckily my friend's daughter, who's out there working for a charity, has already messaged her Mum in Romsey to say she's ok. Phew. The poor people there - must be awful.
Even if no one has been killed this time, the latest quake is going to cause hysterics among the Nepal population - they will be terrified of another one. I wouldn't be surprised if thousands of people flee the country in panic.
it is also 7 years today that the Wenchuan earthquake struck in China's Sichuan province, in the 18 months after that there were hundreds of aftershocks, the death toll for that quake was over 80,000.
How quickly we forget in these days of instant news, eh? Terrible - just shows how we take nature for granted at our peril
I want to do something worthwhile and as a lot of my degree was based on disaster management it would give me experience in my field of expertise.
