If we can con someone into buying him then we need to snap their hands off however little they are offering but if there are no realistic interested parties then keep him on as back up and let him leave in a year for nowt. He has been much better lately but lets be honest if we have Danny Graham anywhere near our starting line up next season we will be in for another long year (presuming we stay up, if we go down he is the sort of player that can get us promoted). In an ideal world I'd like to see Fletch and Graham playing their football somewhere else next year.
Maybe he is just playing the role MON signed him for. He arrived, Fletcher got injured for long term, DG thrust into a role he was not capable of and suffered for it. Add the Geordie roots bit and it was not long before the knives were out. I have seen enough players of limited abilities over the years to know that he has something to offer in the right tole. His performances lately just show he has enough ability to break down defences. One to keep for me.
A player in there all right, but been very well hidden lately. Seems to be coming more into his game now, so I'd keep him, but still be looking for an upgrade.
Contract year Danny Graham is cheap enough to hang on to and see what he can do. If an offer comes in for 2 million or more, sell (no chance that happens). Contract year Fletch is too expensive. Surely we can sell for around 4 million? The big question is Wickham. Is he ever going to be a 10 goal a season striker? What if we got a straight 10-12 million offer? Personally, I'm sick of watching him lumbering around and flashing ability once in every 8 games. That said, he's still young and I'd give him one more season playing up front. If all we have for him is a wide left role, then what's the point in keeping him?
The league is so competitive now and the cost of relegation so high, no one can afford to carry passengers anymore. I'm not sure keeping Whickham is a good idea, especially as you say, we are playing him out of position. I think we've damaged the lad enough and he needs a fresh start
People want to keep Danny Graham..ffs, a few decent games, and 1 goal,,1 ****ing goal, and now he's alright. get rid, and as for Fletcher, (who i've always backed) he can **** off as well. in fact most of them can go...apart frpm catts...love catts me like.
Ideally let him go but I think we need to avoid too many wholesale changes. How much are two strikers going to cost when we need improve with quality in every department? We need to change our transfer habits. Selling **** who's contract has almost run down and replacing it with **** on a nice new contract has gone on long enough imo, if we replace them one at a time we've a better chance of replacing them with better.
I understand your logic Bri, and it's a bit of a catch 22 situation.. Avoid wholesale changes, but sadly, although it won't happen, that is what is needed..In all fairness, i doubt our 4 strikers would hardly scare most championship teams, let alone prem one's. The squad as a whole needs a re vamp...
Sell Graham, Sell Fletch and play Wickham and Defoe up front together. Then we need to sign a couple of fast **** hot winger who can get the ball in the box to them. Our strikers score goals, our problem is getting the ball to them because our wingers are no good. We have a massive rebuilding job to do in the summer if we stay up. Centre halves, wingers and a new striker.
