We are far too small to be independent and survive today on tourism as our biggest income. We are nothing more than a suburb of England in reality and since we voted to have the cardiff white elephant we have become poorer with only Cardiff benefiting from the assembly....scrap the thing and rejoin the fold under England's umbrella and stop this crazy notion that we are better off because we are not....

Are you sure they have all been booted out? So what that many voted for ukip, its seats that count in the voting system we have, it means out of 650 seats only 1 voted for his policies, the fact is you can cry all you like, the alternate vote was offered in 2011, it was rejected, get over it!

The press was all for the tories except the mirror who was for the labour party, thankfully none of them were for the madcap crap from farage!

    I agree

Well we are in the EU, this problem is an EU issue as in all the countries, burying our heads in the sand will not fix problems, that is what farage wants to do, so instead fixing problems he wants to ignore it as if it doesn't happen.

Good for you for voting, I never mentioned you were racist, and I object to the inference, I consider ukip racist for their head in sands attitude to immigrants. The fact is there are more British immigrants abroad than there are foreign ones here, so closing borders would mean that the reverse will happen also, I don't fancy needing visas to go the EU countries again.

How about you ask the Spanish how they feel about all those brits retiring there, the costa del sol is like a mini britain. It would be a shame if people would have to leave if the spanish equivalent of farage managed to get into power there.

You said that if we had PR we would have "80 racists in parliament" or something like that

So you are saying that UKIP voters are voting for racism.
Did you know that UKIP was started by left wing academics?
Farage has successfully pushed the EU referanda agenda by using populist policy on immigration to garner support.
The left wing academics have largely abandoned the party because of this strategy

What did Labour have to say on immigration in the last 5 years?
That's right. They have tried to pose as tough on immigration too, whilst labelling UKIP as racist...the old you can have your cake and eat it trick

You know Jager, you could be a poster boy for this Labour party. You, and the party, stand for nothing :)

Yes that would be true, it would be about 80 racists in power.
I don't really care who created UKIP, its irrelevant
He pushed the agenda yes, that got him one seat, so obviously he didn't push hard enough, or people saw him for what he is
Again I don't give a toss about left wing academics!

I haven't looked, perhaps you can enlighten me

You know what Terror you could be a party political party broadcast for the failed party

How anyone can take ukip serious is beyond me. they hold their meetings in back street pubs with neo natzi's in attendance and surrounded by bald headed burly bouncers...<laugh> His main party conference had to be held at a horse racing venue because all the normal big hotels that normally hold these events did not want to be associated with his party.......How can you back a party like that and what did those who voted expect him to achieve....

The problem we now face after the Labour vote was split asunder is the Torys' plan to suffocate democracy in our Country, UK/GB whatever.

Now they have an unjust majority they plan to do this by unlawfully (Gov speak for illegally) redraw our constituency boundaries.

Under Tory rule, all constituencies in the UK would have their boundaries redrawn, cutting the number of MPs FROM 650 to 600. These changes will only effect non Tory constituencies and effectively reduce Tory opposition, without any election, by 50 seats.

Democracy doesn't exist in the UK, never has and your a moron if you think otherwise. Democracy will only happen in any contemporary country if PR exists to elect its political leaders and justify the society we live.

Almost every other Western nation in the world has a version of PR, except us, why is that? Why do we put up with and accept a system where a party with less than 28% of the UK population voted for. This is what happens when an archaic voting system is allowed to obscure and obliterate the true political feelings and desires of the electorate. It also renders political opinion mute as more and more people use a tactical vote to block democracy. Ukip morons, sorry voters, turned blue in order to prevent a red assault. Tactical voting in Scotland elected the SNP, barely the size of Plaid Cymru pre election and wiped Labour out in Scotland and fekk knows where the Lib Dem vote went.

Our system is flawed at best, a mess in the middle and at worst it is a device exploited and used by a political elite to ensure years with a power fuelled erection/moistness.

But it is us, we, citizens of the UK, the Great British public who are the true disgrace in all of this, not the political elite. They continue to do what they have always done and what we've always let them do. They continue to laugh and p1ss on us, while we doff cloth caps and say 'Thank you sir'.

Future History will label us and future generations will despise us because we are the generation whose cowardice and inactivity freely gave away our children and opened their futures up to be attacked and their health, wealth, prosperity, happiness and futures eroded and stolen. We do this not in ignorance but in comfort. We know its coming but we continue to feed on self congratulatory propaganda about us being the 'best in the world' and we glow with pride as we hear our national anthem as some athlete gets a bronze in the Olympics before we turn the channel for the next instalment of whatever mind numbing soap opera controls our lives at the time.

We are the generation who is giving away our children, shame on us.

Just for something to do, try to get the in situ curriculum of education for Harrow or Eaton; neither of which are a university but both are charities and exempt from inheritance tax, corporation tax, investment tax and are as secretive as a Swiss bank when it comes to investors into the charities and begs the question, why does a 'school' need foreign investment which matches that of a small country? Try find out, I guarantee you'll get no where

Bury your heads in the sand like most that dont want to face hard truths but Farage has without extreme language forced the others to take seriously the concerns of the silent majority here and sweeping things like immigration and EU corruption etc...under the carpet instead of debating them has nearly come to a head as the millions that voted for Farage has shown ! if nothing else he has forced the PC brigade to start taking on board that things are not all rosy in the garden and just saying racist to dismiss anything that does`nt suit their twisted agenda wont wash as easy for them any more !

He has not said ban all immigrants just manage the numbers with an ozzy style system allowing in the ones that have the skills we need and the ability to support themselves and with medical insurance etc.. Allowed in as needed. Also our FAIR share of genuine asylum seekers, but not people that have crossed continents of safe countries to get here because they think they can get on the free living benefits system for life like some of our own home grown and recently arrived freeloaders are ! until they have contributed enough to deserve any benefits people that have lived here for ages built up don`t give them any ! The message that we are no longer a soft touch would soon filter back to the rest.

Would you rather controlled selective immigration or economic migrants with low or no skills, the convicted murderers, rapists, radicals, and other criminals that have settled here and take up space in our jails and else where here. A continued open door that could see many more millions arrive in a short space of time until this country really is so completely changed from what it is that there would be nothing but shortages, deeper cuts and civil unrest everywhere ?

As far as wanting to travel in the EU most take their own insurance and support themselves while there keeping to their laws and not being a burden, Same as genuine visitors on holiday for short periods anywhere, if they want to settle there it is done following their rules as it should be here.If they want a point system etc.. so be it but those that can afford to move there mostly have the means and skills to look after themselves not being a burden but an asset, If they want to get benefits there `if they exist in some parts of europe ?` then its for those countries to decide eligibility not us !

I believe most Brits that voted UKIP are fair minded and agree with sensible policies like Farages party put forward, and would soon stop anyone that stepped over the mark with any extreme views in the party as they have a firm grasp of history and would`nt tolerate it. Pick the bones out of that !<laugh>

But we are in the EU, and cannot have limits on people moving around Europe, it's a fundamental basic of being within the EU. If we leave it then we leave the right of free movement within that. It seems it alright for us to have free movement but certain people don't won't it reciprocated here.

Also we were offered the alternative vote in 2011 and it was rejected by 68% of voters, though only about 40% could even be bothered to vote.

So how did we all get by before the modern EU ruled us ? I still have to show passport when getting ferry over there and back, same as it was before.

The EU in or out vote has been stalled here until they think we are controlled enough to vote the way they want us to and stay in it even though we had no say of being in it in the first place as its a far cry from the common market treaty we were signed up to originally ? Did`nt Ireland keep getting the vote repeated until they `gave the right answer yes` with bungs from Brussels to get them in ? In the **** now ain`t they ? Greece, Portugal etc The ordinary people there, would they prefer it now if they had`nt joined ?

If PR was put to the public vote again now after being explained to a more interested in politics nation than then going by the better turn out last week it may have a chance ?

So what you are saying is that you want another referendum on this just 5. Years after the last one? So let's say that goes ahead will we get another after another 5 years in case we want to go back to FPTP system?

What about the Scottish referendum , should there be another after 5 years? How about a referendum every 5 years for leaving the EU, or rejoining if we do leave?

Really we had the chance already, it was turned down, it appears that disgruntled UKIP supporters are for this as they are bitter about getting one seat. They know how the system works, you get nothing for being second in FPTP system.

We need to take the party seriously, after all your description highlighted could easily be attributed to the National Socialist Party in Germany in the 1920s and we all know what happened there.

I see your point but speaking personally i had no interest in politics 5 years ago and voter apathy was well documented back then, now ive looked into it i would like a say as i`m sure many others if the pros and cons were set out in laymans terms would too, It seems unjust that UKIP got millions more votes than SNP but the seats difference is huge ! But as i said i can see your point a vote for the same thing every 5 years would be a bit silly (see my Irish bit above) but if enough politicians wanted it because it was in their interests regardless if blue red or other it would happen .

The boundaries are reviewed independently and periodically.
The recommendations of the last review were that the system was unfair to the Tories. It recommended that instead of 650 MPs we have 600.
The number of MPs in Wales would have dropped from 40 to 30.
This system is not rigged. The previous review's conclusions had suited Labour better and it's recommendations were passed in parliament (Labour had a majority).
The latest recommendations should have been passed by parliament in 2011 which would have resulted in an easier victory for the Tories in this election.
It was blocked because the Tories didn't have a majority and needed the support of the Liberal Democrats.
The Liberal Democrats said that they would only support the Tories in this endeavour if the Tories agreed to reform the House of Lords.
    ****ing bastard whores huh!
Trying to change things for the better in this country, helping the Labour party out and ****ing over the Tories, what did they ever do for us etc. (ad nauseum)

If anyone doesn't believe me check out the process here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Periodic_Review_of_Westminster_constituencies
    and here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boundary_Commissions_(United_Kingdom)

If the Tories change the boundaries they will merely be doing what the Labour party did before them.
