I think our first past the post electoral system is just fine and dandy by me. Its one redeeming feature is that it stopped the idiots in UKIP getting the number of MPs they would have done under PR. For that we should all get down on our knees and say a word of thanks.
I know I'm on a hopeless mission but is there any chance we could cut out the politics? I left the forum for pretty much the whole election campaign but the sniping and argument is still going on. Since the moderators won't stop it is there any chance people could self-moderate? It spoils what is sometimes my favourite thread on this forum as I have to wade through political tripe to get to the mayonnaise. Vin
I believe in first pass the post because each constituency ends up with an MP that they can consult if they wish, though I think constituency size should be similar (though they can never be exactly equal). Scotland for one is vastly over represented, though I believe there are other examples within England. The Lib-dems blocked boundary changes, so this is one area we may see readdressed in this parliament.
I did ask if people would draw the politics to a close on Friday night/Saturday morning. Please could we do that now? More Marmite and mayonnaise please (Now there's a thought...!)
My only response to this will be that I truly hope you don't judge a person's political stance by a comment they make on a football forum about some graffiti. Please don't do that, it is wrong to do so. I started that comment so I will assume that this and other similar remarks on similar topics were aimed at me. I do not declare my political position publicly with strangers and none, I repeat NONE of my comments are based on any political bias. In my time, I have voted for several different parties as I saw fit at the time and not voted at all once. You have no idea how I voted this time. If people wish to start casting aspersions in my direction, I seriously suggest they PM me, get my number and we can meet up over a few beers. I will then bore the **** out of them with the amount of work and projects/support I have done over the years for causes such as those you mention Dell boy. I hate politics and this is one of those many reasons why; it is why I didn't want a big discussion on it in here. It pisses me off no end, when people can write a comparison/analogy like the one above without any knowledge of the person they write about. Assumption after assumption. It doesn't matter where your politics sit as to how much you show indignation towards something, or help people. It only matters what sort of person you are. I only hope that you do everything you possibly can and I mean everything, to help those people that are mentioned above. I am sorry I have typed this aggressively responding to your post Dell boy, nothing personal, but it was the right one to reply to. *please someone ban politics on here*
Yes, in the 2nd Div against a side that hasnt won a game for a couple of years ! Dont think the bowling attack he was facing was in any indicative of the standard of international bowlers. Some perspective required here.
Doesn't matter. He's been batting with the tail for ages now. 300 is ****ing brilliant regardless of the bowling attack.
