True on gerrard, not true on sturrdige. he missed quite a bit of last season as well in the middle of the year and it was only when he returend that we changed from a decent run to 4th to a title push Gerrard would not be in last season except for his spitting the dummy. Gerrard could and should have bee replaced with a better CM by now. irrespective. it was rodgers choice to buy markovic and lallaan for combined 45mi and neither play when he could have stuck gerard at right forward if he felt like it. should have bought a CM last summer.... no question
Gotcha. Sturridge being injury prone and Gerrard being prone to the passing of time is a new problem. Let's hope Brendan doesn't forget this new information during the course of the close season.
how does manc bait taste? United are only 4th because we did our best to not take it when they offered it twice late on this season, and once again when they had an indifferent start. Saying United get 4th being **** says something about us too if you can "figure" that out Tho I will mention we don't have the most expensive and highest page team in the league do we?
The only reason van Gaal's season is not an abject failure is because we were **** enough to give up 4th. If carl can't see that then.. maybe he should watch some football from this season possibly So the best thing to happen to vG this season, is LFC blowing out. His "success" hinges entirely on that, something out of his actual control like.

So Can was bought as cover/replacement for Gerrard and when it became apparent that Gerrard's legs had gone Can was deployed at right back as part of some tactical masterplan. Rodgers truly is the master.
But you didn`t "give up fourth", you returned to normal after one good season. We both had blips last season that took us out of the norm, now things have returned to their usual pattern
