Thing is about that is their staff are entitled to redundancy pay like anyone else, that is paid out of this money by the looks of things. I'm not agreeing to any of it, but they can't obviously keep staff on if they are no longer in that job.

But that is not democracy, now is it?

    Government by the people?

    Political or social equality?

I think that what we have is more akin to a dictatorship, PR would go a long way to sorting out the flaws in this so-called democracy, and make it far more reflective of the wishes of the electorate. How can a party receive power with just 36% of the vote? it's an insult to the meaning of democracy, high time our British constitution was put right, it would go a long way to bring back confidence in our broken system................<ok>

We were offered a different system which was rejected. If people don't want to vote it's up to them. But the turnout this election is the highest since labour won in 1997.

Can I ask a question ? If labour had got in with a 36% share of the vote, should you be harping on about the how unfair it was then? Doubt it!!

Thing is if we had PR now we would have about 80 racist UKIP MPs right now, and farage would be having a say on how our country is run. That nightmare has been avoided, and farage has quit.

Phil - I'll grant you that it is not perfect - far from it, but a dictatorship? Sorry, can't agree. Russia, North Korea even Cuba are all more likely candidates for that description. <cheers>

So 4million British people that voted Ukip plus the rest that tactically voted to keep labour out instead of voting their first choice of Ukip and any others that didn`t bother to vote but may have voted Ukip And the many who are to scared of the P.C lot to risk offending any one that they don`t agree with, so keep their freedom of speech to themselves are racist ?

    Are they ?

To steer the Labour party back to being a Blairite centre-right party?
That's not what you voted for when you voted Plaid.

    Swantastic.

Don't you understand? Anyone who votes for a major UK party other than Labour are "scum, "whores", "racists" etc.
They don't mind SNP or Plaid though as they hate the English too.
It's a very sophisticated political message that has led to Labour being wiped off the map in Scotland.
    The politics of the "astute".

    Here's another good one...

The majority of Welsh people want a left-wing government or at the very least "anyone but the Tories!".
However, within the UK the Welsh (and Scottish) were always up against it when it came to delivering a Labour government as the majority of the English vote Tory. As the English have a far bigger population their voice carries more weight within a United Kingdom.

Therefore the only way for the Welsh (or the Scottish) to obtain the government they craved was to vote for independence.
Labour (and the Liberals) saw where logic was taking us and began the devolution process to avoid breaking up the UK.
Despite having devolved parliaments responsible for chunks of policy and spending the Welsh largely ignore this and continue to blame Westminster for everything and the Scottish having rejected independence send only SNP MPs to Westminster.
Both the Welsh and the Scottish are outraged that the Tories in Westminster have such an influence on governing them.

Yet the Scottish were unwilling to vote for independence in Scotland when given the chance....and Plaid are keen to point out to Welsh voters that although they support independence they won't actually seek to obtain this in the short term as it is not what the voters want.

So, in short, the Welsh and Scottish people vote at the ballot box to stay inside the UK and be governed by the Tories in the main...they would rather bitch, moan, complain, play the ****ing victim and not take any responsibility for themselves.
It would seem that the comfort blanket of blaming the Tories/English is a far more attractive option than actual left-wing policies...and woe betide any party that manages to sneak in (the Lib Dems) and try to implement a few
    <laugh>

We have a few Plaid voters on here. Valley is one who has voted Plaid and doesn't support independence....would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the above Valley?
Phillip is another, do you want total independence Phillip?

Anyone see that interview with Peter Mandleson the other day. He blamed Labour's election failure on Milliband not reminding the public how good New Labour were. Is the Labour party hierarchy really that deluded?.

Jager I voted UKIP because I am anti European Union and am not the slightest bit racist and resent your implication that because I voted UKIP I am.

For PR too ever work the boundaries need to be properly sorted. As it stands the Tories have moved the goal mouth so much that they hold all the biggest boundaries which will acquire the most votes in their favour....The voting system needs a huge overall starting with the boundaries that need to be proportionally laid out and scrap a number of seats that will not be needed....As things stand PR will not work fairly or democratically..

I'd love nothing more than to see Wales become an independent country in my lifetime. However, I am also a realist and should we break away tomorrow we would become an instant third world country as we do not have the economic infrastructure to become a self governing country.
Leanne Wood stated the same thing leading up to the election.

Yes indeed I do, we would be far wealthier as a nation under our own steam, and we would be able to take this very small country forward, you do not need to be Einstein to see it is not rocket science to improve on the impoverished state of Wales under so many crap westminster governments....<ok>
