Morning all from a glorious piece of the country. Been into town which is a 60 km round trip to have my car window looked at. WD40, a high pressure blow job, can I say that, and a few strategic thumps were of no avail. Seems as if it is the switch that has died, but the good news is they can get one for this afternoon. The bad news is that a switch can cost €34 and I have another round trip to make. Still I didn't fancy going down the autoroute and having to get out of the car at every toll booth, and the way it is heating up out here now a little fresh air is welcome.
Looks as if it will be good next week with plenty of sun and temperatures around 25°C. This is only what France Meteo are saying today of course.
So, it turns out that the 27 year old with the restaurant bill for audi who is almost certainly my ex pupil was interviewed this morning and said that she has settled with audi and is happy to report that they will pay £250 (i think) of the bill with the rest going to charity. When she was asked how she was happy not to have a full refund, she replied that it was more about the principle than the money and that if audi are willing to give that much to charity she was happy. Well done audi, they caught her between a rock and a hard place so it's win win all round!
Hey Yorkie is it Green or Socialist to own two homes in two different countries? Sorry - below the belt and only joking. I would love to own a small place in France.
I'm not speaking for Yorkie. These are my views. I would argue that it is. Socialists want a society where everyone owns two houses, not just the rich. It is also Green to own two houses if it means that one doesn't fall into disrepair and the energy and resource costs of living in two houses is less than living in one (which is perfectly possible).
Why? It is certainly more energy efficient for people in cold winter areas to move to warmer areas where they don't need heating, then to move back in the summer so that they don't use air conditioning. Similarly, it is better to maintain housing stock than to let it fall into ruin. Owners come and go. Someone can live in a house in the future if it is maintained. The carbon emissions created from producing the materials to build a new house are horrendous.

Today I have been working as a building site labourer with a Derby fan. He was at a loss about their season falling apart. Suspected that the manager is not really that good, and maybe he didn't take the Newcastle job because he realizes that he would have been quickly exposed there. Another reason of course might be the owner. It is strange where life takes you. When I lived a couple of hours from the Vic I knew very few people that I could have a decent football conversation with. Now I live 600 miles away I chat with Forest, Derby, Middlesborough and Norwich fans. My daughter has a QPR fan as a partner, who I have taken to the Vic a couple of times. He is refusing to talk football for some reason all of a sudden.
