The Tories got 35% of the votes that were cast. 66% of the electorate voted. So less than a quarter of the total population actually eligible vote went for them. Just the way the system works.

If your local area gets fracked into oblivion and the value of your house plummets to zero or your employer sacks you 'cos he can get someone else to do your job for half the salary and you have no comeback as the Human Rights Legislation has been repealed would you like anybody to come on here and tell you to get over it?

People are fearful Chaz and rightly so.......................a little empathy perhaps or are you really that devoid of feelings for your fellow man?[/QUOTE]
Selective quoting does nobody any good - least of all you.Pils.

If you had quoted ALL of my post, it would be clear my statement was about the moans re the voting system. Which you well know. Please debate properly in future and don't deliberately misquote people, because when you do that nobody takes you at all seriously.

Exactly. Less that that amount went to any other party, so there's no way they can be painted as having any greater right to govern.

Sorry? I never deliberately pick a few words form someone's post and then weave a completely fictitious whine out of it. Is there anywhere in my post above where pils could in any way have interpreted it as a comment about fracking? Or Human rights? No.

    Stan had you nailed, mate.

The Floyd Mayweather Dodging the Punches and Hitting Back Award - Chaz, even though he sometimes chose to ignore all but one or two words in some posts.

Your continued description of contrary posts as 'whining' does you no credit either.

It's going to be interesting to see how many of the Tories' unfunded election promises they are able to include in their Queen's Speech. I think they are in a similar situation to the Liberals after the last election, whereby they have promised a whole lot of stuff they thought they would never have to deliver on, because they didn't expect to gain a majority.

I love that sentence! Should be finished with "you wouldn't catch me there in a month of Sundays. Pubs aside."

Would have been just the same for Labour mate. Their big promise was reducing the deficit, I have no doubt that they will have a good go at that. Manifestos/ pre election promises are 'directional' at best.

I think some of the people on here - and those out defacing war memorials - could follow Milibands position. He doesn't blame the voting system or berate the opposition, he man's up to the fact that Labour failed and blamed nobody but himself. That's life in a democracy...

Ignoring parts of a post is different from deliberately misinterpreting a post. You get it now?

It wasn't your lie Shefford, it was the Tory party lie that the 2008 recession was the result of overspending by the Labour government rather than the global banking crash. You merely perpetuated it.

Good analysis. I liked what Cameron said about uniting the nation and leading everyone forward together. I hope he sticks to it!

The financial crisis was real. Gordon Brown and then Alastair Darling completely mismanaged Britain's response to it, leaving us in a terrible state compared with where we might have been. They may not have started the crisis, but their inability to deal with it perpetuated the problems.

It was a combination of both, Labour continued to spend like it was confetti when they knew how serious the position was, it was recklessly unnecessary. Add to that the extortionately expensive PFI's to build schools and hospitals which we'll all be paying for another 25-30 years and it's easy to see why Labour's financial competence is their Achilles heel...

Britain's response to the banking crisis was widely admired and copied (Gordon Brown was named World Statesman Of The Year by some organisation or other).

It's good to know that you accept that the recession was not caused by the Labour government, perhaps you could explain to Shefford and the rest.
