    Advertising does work...puts a name in your head and you may pick that product up next time you see it. If it didn't work, they wouldn't spend millions on it. And you get trends...I remember when Blue Nun and Babycham were the height of sophistication. <laugh> Some adverts can be beautifully made, but fail to place the product in your head...so Shake and Vac is a good (though irritating) advert, whereas beautifully shot car adverts can have no effect.

    If you're falling out of love with men's football, you should try women's football. That's kind of the reason I got into women's football in the first place. It's like men's football but with:

    • No egos
    • No huge salaries
    • No diving and cheating
    • No feigning injury
    • Really cheap tickets
    • Terraces!
    • Players who play for the love of the game
    • Respect between players and teams (usually)
    It's also fairly good standard at least in the WPL (though avoid the county cup games as they tend to be one sided), and you might be surprised

    I'm sure Southampton Saints Girls and Ladies would appreciate your support.

    I never stopped loving Saints when they scratched around the bottom of the EPL (with a few decent seasons), got demoted to the Championship, hovered without ambition for a few years, got demoted again and nearly went out of business. Think I can withstand finishing 7th in the EPL.
