I wonder who is prepared to stay for the Championship out of the current squad? I can't see Hernandez, Jela, Huddleston, Livermore, Diame, Dawson wanting to stay. I can see the vultures ready to pick the bones for Chester, Robertson, Elmo, N'Doye too. So a championship squad to include: McGregor Rosenior, Maguire, Bruce, McShane Quinn, Meyler, Snodgrass, Brady, Strikers?
Ironically not far off the team that may have just kept us up,and if S Bruce cant fire his troops up for games like this one perhaps he should go too. Hoping Mick McCarthy can be persuaded to join for our Promotion push next season.
McShane and Quinn are out of contract and may not want to stay with Steve Bruce. Rosenior is out of contract and would like to stay. Whether they will be offered new contracts depends on who we get rid of and how much money we have for wages.
If we get relegated, then the likes of Brian Lenihan and and Max Clark must surely be getting some game time.
Hernandez will be lucky to get an offer from Grimsby Town. Not a "Strikers @rsehole"! Chester and Robertson will receive offers from Premier League Clubs. Elmo is good but I doubt he will receive better than what he is getting with us despite relegation. Jelly and N'Doye will probably get offers but not as "Number One" strikers (imo) and I could see them both staying. Aluko will have a ball at Championship level but somebody is going to have to get a grip of this bloke and his 'going-it-solo' mentality and get him to play 'team' football. Dawson, imo, will not get a better offer than the one he's got with us. Neither will The Hudd or Diame. Livermore will go though. We have also got Davies who will be a 'better-then-average' Championship player. Should Jelly and N'Doye stay then we have a competitive side for the Championship.
You really have no ****ing idea how the world really works do you? All your hopes of new buyers went up in smoke with that result yesterday.
It's hard to predict - I imagine it will depend on Allam's mentality; cash in, or fight for a return to the Premier League to guarantee a return on investment. Look at Norwich - I expected to see the likes of Ruddy, Olsson, Howson, Redmond and Hooper all leave. They'd have made good squad players to most Premier League teams, but when you value your 'Snodgrass'' at £6million+ it's easy to keep your squad in-tact. For example: If the going rate for a Ross McCormack or Jordan Rhodes is over £10million, we should be at least putting a price-tag of £8million on Jelavic - then it's hit-or-miss if anyone is willing to pay that for him.
and hopefully we will win our next two games, and hopefully Newcastle will lose theirs, and hopefully I will win the ****ing lottery, and hopefully etc etc
I could see Jela maybe staying. I would say to Chester, "Give us half a season at 100%. If we're challenging for promotion stick with us, but if we're down the bottom we'll let you go in January." and hope that his loyalty to the club counts for something. Reckon we could line up: [New Keeper] Elmo Chester Maguire McShane Brady Ince Meyler Quinn Jela Aluko
If we could field New goalie (Mannone?) Rosey Chester Dawson Roberston Elmo Huddlestone Livermore Brady Jelavic N'Doye Harper, Maguire, Diame, Quinn, Ince, Hernandez, Aluko I'd fancy our chances.
It's Bruce, what do you expect. I'd much rather: [New Keeper] Rosenior Chester Maguire [New Left Back] Meyler Huddlestone Elmo Quinn Ince Jela
