Arrived on the Gower peninsula early this afternoon. Couple of pints of local ale and a walk to Worm's Head in the sunshine. Beautiful views along Rhossilli Beach. Sometimes life is very good...

It has been a glorious day of warmth and blue skies. Mme has her birthday today and many family and friends remembered. She has been very pleased. Seeing as we are setting off for Corsica on Thursday there are many things that have be done before then. I have been hard at it all day, but tomorrow we will be having the birthday party with family, so a day off.

Our eldest grand daughter who is on the dairy allergy program is doing well, this week having some cheeses for the first time. She didn't like the taste. If only something similar existed in the UK she might have been on a normal diet by now. It seems that the NHS doesn't wish to spend the money on sorting this problem out, as it means having specially trained nurses who can spend a whole day with one person. While there are not unlimited funds here or in the UK you can understand why some things do not happen, but for the individual it is a shame that treatment is available, but not done because of cost. It reminds me of the days when I worked on a safety program for the nationalized rail service. After three years of work there was a system that stopped a train if it went through a red light, but nothing happened because it wasn't going to save enough lives. Maybe five or six a year, but that was not enough, unless you were one of those who would lose their life. Fortunately things have changed and the system that we devised is now used over the whole network.

Good evening Frenchie... our good wishes to Mme...

We have had a lovely day gardening here... .and are off to France next Friday :)

A good friend of mine in France has a grandson with a most terrible illness.... Friedrich's Ataxia... and his mum took him to the UK two years back..... the difference in treatment is so noticeable..... the French health care was so much better... and his mum brings him back to France for treatment every year....

I have passed you good wishes on. <ok>

I do believe that the partial cost that we have to make towards our health services does make a difference, although there is not and will never be sufficient funds to treat everyone with the best that is available here or in the UK. Always seems a shame that more could be done, but life is not that simple.

Feeling a bit for Sean Dyche seeing the club relegated. I think he did very well when he had so little available to him.

Dyche joined the club in October 2012, replacing now Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, and his biggest signing has been the £3m spent on midfielder George Boyd last September.

In comparison, Leicester have twice broken their club record fees this season, spending £8m on Argentine striker Leonardo Ulloa before purchasing Croatian striker Andrej Kramaric for £9m.

Hull have brought in striker Abel Hernandez for £10m and paid £8m for midfielder Jake Livermore.

Dyche added: "We are a change from the norm. People try to throw money at the problem but we haven't done that and there are great signs that we can move this club forward."

Just goes to show that unless you can build a team of quality that can play as a team you will not succeed.

When we lived near Carmarthen we used to go all along the coast from the Gower along to Pendine sands and Tenby - beautiful area. The train journeys back from London to Carmarthen after Swansea past Llanelli were lovely -if you get the chance take the train from Swansea to Carmarthen

A bit grey this morning but we'll be setting off over Rhossili Down shortly and then following the beach and coast for a few miles, then weather permitting back for lunch on a cottage terrace with fabulous views down to the sea.

Beautiful sunny day here and I have been down the field to collect some salad for today. It is lovely walking along the green lane at present with both sides of the pathway I clear covered in Spring flowers. The blossom on the trees is now over, a relief for those who suffer a type of hay fever. There is a very pretty feral cat living down there somewhere. As soon as it sees anyone it does a runner, but I have been close enough to see that it appears to look well fed. With all the field mice, bank voles and moles there should be ample supplies for it.
