Yeovil away when we won promotion, the start of our great adventure, that night in Yeovil town centre full of City fans was a night to remember, we walked about half a mile into the town from our hotel and we could hear the singing getting louder and louder. Three or four hundred pissed up fans singing the night away for hours will live long in the memory.
If I remember correctly the Colchester match was the final evening game they played at Layer road. Great night. great result.
Sheffield Wednesday 2 Hull City 4. A defining victory in the recent history of Hull City. Sheffield United 2 Hull City 3. A Boxing Day fixture to remember and the first time since 1970/71 and the Battle Of Bramall Lane that we had beaten United on their own muck. Leeds United 1 Hull City 3. A ghost finally put to bed. We are Yorkshire's number 1. Hull City 2 Fulham 1. First ever game in the Premier League after 104 years of waiting, one we all thought we would never see. Hull City 1 Bristol City 0. Wembley Championship Play Off Final. ( see above)
He pissed it on here by about 20 points! The two that stand out for me aside from the obvious are west Brom and Leicester away in the promotion year. It was those two where I really started to believe we could do it
Agreed with both of them. Mostly the 2-1 at the Hawthorns against goal machine Kevin Phillips with Big Ron doing radio commentary. I seem to think Folan scored and settled the nerves a lot against Leicester.
Folan scored the second in both games I think. Looking back now I don't think we'll ever have a better year as city fans than 2008, everything we did felt brilliant and I could never wait for the next game, its never quite felt the same since
Thinking about some of these games I even have fond memories of 06/07. I remember we were **** under Parkinson but the wins under PB were great fun. He was a mentalist but it was bloody great when he was manager.
Nothing and I mean NOTHING will beat this moment for me. Not even if we somehow win the Champions League in the future. I've said it before but these were the last moments I spent with my Dad at the KC and what a bloody tense, dramatic, and euphoric time it was. Even now it triggers a massive flurry of emotions just thinking about it. Omitting the Wembley trips, other favourite games were the 2-1 win over Palace in 2008. I really enjoyed the trip to Derby 11/12, (the Barmby/Stewart show) and Sheff Utd away Boxing Day 2010 was brilliant. And peculiarly the 2-2 draw at Wigan in 2010 when we were already relegated stands out just for the jovial piss-taking atmosphere.
