It's amazing that you pop up so regularly, but contribute nothing but attempts to incite slanging matches.

Don't be so pompous, Chaz, can't you recognise sarcasm? You are not helping by accusing people of sour grapes and whining.

Much of what I have heard from Tories since Friday morning has been of a gloating nature. You won, we get it, but people should be entitled to express concerns over what unfettered Toryism will bring in the next five years.

So I'm supposed to be fine with you saying I advocate infanticide?

He'll be telling us Mussolini was left-leaning next.

Chaz has been the most aggressive poster on this thread and that's saying something considering me & COL have been on it the whole while!

He's starting to crack. This whole debate seems to have been too much for him. Imagine what kind of a meltdown he'd be in if the Tories lost!

One flew over the Cuckoo's nest...

    Fracking - agree

Human Rights - let's have the final court of adjudication as our Supreme Court, rather than a court in Strasbourg manned by judges from such bastions of the rights of human beings as Albania, Serbia and Bosnia.

Privatisation of the NHS - Ain't gonna happen

Vilification of the disabled - the thinking is that the Coalition looked hard at disabled benefits and weeded out the unentitled (which were not as numerous as first thought). That being the case, the Government should look elsewhere for the necessary cuts and I'll complain as loudly as anyone else if they don't

The unemployed - unemployment went down under the Coalition - it needs to keep coming down

Working poor - troubling, and I think the minimum wage should be upped asap. (easy for me to say when I don't have to balance the books)

Blood sports - I wouldn't support their return, but foxes do have to be controlled and ironically, hunting is the only method of control that ensures that a fox is not left injured to die a lengthy and painful death

HS2 and Free schools deserve threads of their own!

Ahem, sorry to butt in, but the LABOUR party stated selling off the NHS in the 70's. If anyone insists on making rash statements, at least let them be based on truth.

Oh dear. I was attempting to satirise your seemingly blind adherence to the Tory party and anything they say or do, Chaz. I don't actually believe that you or the Tories favour infanticide.

    Privatisation of the NHS -
Currently bids are open to private health care companies from the NHS to tender for a contract worth between £700m and £1.1bn to provide health services including end of life care for people in Cambridge and Peterborough.
This tops the previous record of £450m awarded to VirginCare by the NHS.
According to the Register of Interests 1 in 4 Tory MP's have a recent or present financial connection to companies or individuals involved in healthcare and include - Lord Ashcroft, David Cameron, George Osbourne and Andrew Lansley, amongst a total of approx 72 listed Tory MPs.
If you want the full list I can happily provide it for you if someone can show me how to set up a link.

Well, election is done, plenty of time to get used to the aftermath. General conclusions from my perspective (on the thread, not the election), good fun, but I don't think any of the main protagonists changed their minds from their starting position. Would have been good to have had a Scot/surrogate Scot to put the SNP perspective - Steelmonkey, where were you? Likewise Kippers, lots of votes, no voice. Mainly good tempered, but its a bit worrying how easily we slip into stereotypes and just oppose views for the sake of opposing rather than trying to understand them - I am as guilty of this as anyone. Hopefully our elected leaders will spend a bit more time listening.

    Thread awards:

The Floyd Mayweather Dodging the Punches and Hitting Back Award - Chaz, even though he sometimes chose to ignore all but one or two words in some posts.
The Good Lord I Thought I Was Cynical Award - Sooper. Good Lord I thought I was cynical.
The Lenin in Exile in Switzerland Award - Ossie, see you at the Finland Station mate.
The Existential Despair of the Left Award - Stroller. One day you may have a party with a chance on the ballot paper.
The Agent Provocateur Award - Swords, light blue touchpaper and stand back.
The Honourary Flyer Extreme Paranoia Award - Goldie - BBC bias! SNP self interest!

    Cheers lads.

    Not really!

Is there no alternative to oil then?

For the record oil is a long way from running out my friend - the USA is sitting on over 2000 years worth of readily available though as yet untapped oil based upon current global demand.

It was specifically the tax placed on Disability Benefit that I was referring to.

Connection to healthcare - very broad- would include public companies so presumably having shares in Boots would qualify

Outsourcing certain work isn't unusual in big organisations - cleaning for example - if it's medical care, then I agree it's more fundamental. If it could be shown that it was awarded to a private company in which a minister has a financial interest this would set off alarm bells - but can it?

I'm confident the NHS will remain free at the point of use, but health tourism should be looked at and abusing the system like regularly failing to turn up for doctor's appointments should incur a fine imo

Very good, Stan! Said my bit on the BBC now and don't want to sound like a broken record. Only just begun on the SNP... :emoticon-0100-smile
