Right? I doubt that. Its impossible as some will always feel aggrieved no matter what. Thats the nature of it.

What they will do is make the tough calls that others wouldnt. Decisions that may take away from some but reward others.

Oh, believe me, they've been great for my employer and me and the other lowly workers have benefited from that.

Exactly. Because it's always been the rich and powerful who have been in charge and made the decisions to suit themselves.
There has never been anything like a society built around fairness and equal opportunity (and probably never will be) no matter how often politicians bandy those words about.
Is the concept of social evolution beyond you? If you keep holding up the politics of the dark ages as normal and acceptable, then in the dark ages we'll remain.
The law of the jungle has applied throughout history, but if we ever want to free ourselves from it we have to look for better alternatives. If however, you take the "I'm alright, Jack so everything's good" attitude then things never will improve.

    " Trickle down". Really? <laugh>

Apart from the obvious headlines (Tories getting an unexpected majority, SNP avalanche, Libdem demolition, bigwigs losing their seats), the striking feature for me is :

    UKIP: 3m+ votes - 1 seat

    SNP: 3m+ votes - 56 seats

I dislike UKIP, their members and their policies but my point is that the system is inherently unfair. How can the parties sitting the same election and the same parliament be so differently represented? Is it not time to look at our first past the post system?

Wrong. Labour has destroyed Burnley. Disappointingly they won the Burnley seat though. Pendle to the tories though. Good news for them.

Good luck changing mans fundamental biology. We are programmed to look after our families first and foremost. It's selfish really when you think about it, but then survival is about being selfish.
Well I think one of the things the tory's are trying to do is reduce the number of seats to 600 from 650, to create a more "fair" representation. As for a look at our system, there was a referendum on AV a few years back - didn't go so well :/

The SNP stat means nothing, most of Scotland is rural and has very few electors compared to the large cities, most of the Tory vote comes from rural areas of England.

Its all about proportional representation (or the lack of it)

  15. It,s actually...

UKIP; 3,811,896 votes and 1 seat (3,811,896 votes per seat)

SNP; 1,454,436 votes and 56 seats (25,972 vps)

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/results

    There is also...

Democratic Unionist Party; 184,260 votes and 8 seats (23,032vps)

Plaid Cymru; 181,694 votes and 3 seats (60,565vps)

Sinn Fein; 176,232 votes and 4 seats (43,058vps)

Ulster Unionist Party; 114,935 votes and 2 seats (57,468vps)

Social Democratic & Labour Party; 99,809 votes and 3 seats (33,270vps)

...all make a mockery of UKIPS figures.

Also UKIP got 4 million votes to SNPs 1.5 million, that's quite incredible really

  17. Just edited my last comment as a few other parties show what a mockery the votes to seat ratio is.

You don't live there now so don't be trying to change the reality of the place to suit your contentment under the Tories.
Did Labour shut down the mines at Halton Valley and start the decline?, no, it was your Tory Party.

Your "I'm alright jack" will come back and bite you on the arse, the sooner the better.<whistle>

Obviously what is being is said is Westminster is bending over backwards to give representation to minor regions of the UK

Scotland had 50/50 vote on SNP pet project

Were were the 50% yesterday? Off thinking that they would get more out of SNP power than labour power

    Now they get nothing

All tories need is lib dem suicide pact to hold power and they could even deal with ni parties for a very cheap payment to rule move
