According to many media outlets Redfearn has told Cellino that he wants Joey Barton and Charlie Adams. If this is true it would take a big wage packet and Stoke and QPR would want to offload them both. However Barton has been QPR's best player again and Adams has it a rich vein of form recently and is hitting the net with shots from all angles and distances. Personally if this is just bollox it will be like all the other bollox we've read about for the last few summers, if Cellino happens to like the idea I for one would be happy and we may even have another Vinny Jones type player with us again.
As with the next thousand rumours over the summer, take it with a pinch of salt. I think weve all a fair idea whoever he signs, wont be a household name,at least in Britain anyway
I've no doubt he's said "I want this Joey Barton and Charlie Adams please". I imagine the reply went along the lines of "**** off".
I can confirm Charlie Adam... please log in to view this image Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP · 8h8 hours ago Redfearn's put a list of transfer targets to the board at Leeds. Charlie Adam, Matt Phillips and Jason Shackell are three of the names on it
Adam would be class in the Championship. Barton is a bit of a tosser but he's a decent player and one I'd rather have playing for us than against us. Shackell and Phillips would be good signings too - all would be on big wages though and judging from Cellino's past dealings I'd imagine they're very unlikely. We'll get some more second rate Italian nobodies on loan or on incentive-heavy contracts.
I don't believe we could afford the wages of either Adam or Barton. I also thought Redfearn believed that our youngsters were the future so what happens to Cook and Mowatt? And I didn't think Cellino offered long contracts to players of that age. Sounds like a long summer of rumours is underway early.
Firstly I doubt Redfearn will have his contract renewed, secondly he hasn't a chance of Cellino trying to get these players for him and third wages. I would welcome them, all better than anything Cellino has signed so far.
Trying to think outside the thingy ..... what if Cellino is going to cash in on Cooke and wants to appease Redders. I get de cash and you get these 2 players. I take on loan for a season and if they get us up I buy. He needs solid midfielders who can create and score. Barton and Adam are seasoned top flight campaigners who shine in this league.. Still on a transfer embargo so loan signings will do and one in one out rules and it looks like we're clearing the decks, so should have enough left over for wages. Lets face it Cellino needs to do some crawling or he's fooked in August. Buy back EER and give us a team to challenge. value rockets due to ER being an asset. Promotion nets him another £130m and valuation goes ballistic, so sell the club at a huge profit by gambling you twat
Lot of ifs there Doc. That's assuming either would want to swap PL contracts for a years loan at Leeds?
You're thinking too logical and far too sensible forgetting the fact that Cellino isn't either of these two things
Well after last night, I might actually see Ronaldo, Bale and Messi on our subs bench next season after all.
Skybet are doing odds on Leeds already for next season Promotion 33/1 Relegation 4/1 (same odds as us last year ) 2 or more Leeds managers sacked 1/2
no malice Doc, Only problem with buying back ER right now is, as you said, the value of the club skyrockets, but so does GFH's shares, and Cellino knows this as he mentioned last year when he was apparently inquiring about the buyback price. If GFH's shares skyrocket, then GFH would make a killing if they chose to sell, especially to Cellino, also, and, or, it would be harder for Cellino to get rid of GFH.
That argument could also be put forward to not improve the playing squad or gain promotion as all would result in GFH shares strengthening. To be honest, I think its a red herring hes using to cover his lack of investment LL
I'd stick a spare tenner on promotion at 33/1, I have a funny feeling about next season if Redders ain't here.
You could be right Eire, but if he invests then we'll definitely be stuck with GFH and their inflated shares any way; as far as GFH are concerned, Cellino is between a rock and a hard place.
