Saw nearly every game that season and loved it ..... the whole time was crazy and I have some great memories.

Some scumbag tried to stab me at Chesterfield, I set a pub on fire at Walsall & I held up the traffic in Northampton town centre walking round & round in circles wearing a pair of black sunglasses and carrying a white stick ....... I could've been killed, arrested or sectioned almost every week <laugh>

My brother plays the white stick trick in town every now and again...His latest one is when he gets approached by the street sellers in town he pretends to speak Russian to them..They normally walk away pretty sharpish..

because of work commitments didn't get to as many a home as away in that era. However it was amazing we didn't only take over small grounds but took over small towns. One of my favourite seasons.

Nostalgia! Even just 30 years ago football seemed to be played by proper men and not the boys who grace our grounds today

Aye i know, same here, that's why i asked about this season.Seems folks kinda enjoyed this season, despite it being a low point in SAFC history.

the prem only seems relevant due to the amount of money..as proved by this thread, (suppose man city could say the same) football means more than just playing Man U or Arsenal, these folks will follow them, no matter where.

It remains one of my favourite seasons in over 40 years ......... every week was crazy and you counted the days 'til the next one.

It all finished up at Rotherham where I was hanging from the rafters of the away end stand screaming at the referee for some decision.

Yes, I know climbing into the roof of the stand is technically an offence but there were mitigating circumstances.

But the fact that I had my white stick & dark glasses on didn't seem to excuse me in the eyes of the South Yorkshire constabulary <doh>

My top 3 would be West Midlands, South Yorkshire & London in that order ...... some of them were the worst hooligans in those days.

7-0 v Southend but I was just a kid and loved watching us score loads of goals!!

Never missed a game that season home or away - I remember being sat in one of the boxes at Roker against Rotherham (I think - My Dad worked for Ansa Motors who had a box) and, half way through the second half I screamed "Come on man - that was worse than Marco) - and Gabba's mother was sat next to me (I had no idea!) My parents were a little embarassed!!
