Yea woohoo for £12billion of welfare cuts, woohoo for the decimation of public services, and woohoo for the eton boys running our country. Woohoo.
As long as the loop holes for tax evasion are left open for the super rich and everyone else feels the pinch....yea woo hoo indeed. Thatcher years are coming back
The country was going to the dogs and being run by the unions before Thatcher came in. She stopped them holding the country to ransom by joining in strikes that had nothing to do with them. Believe me, most people were pretty grateful as shown by her getting re-elected. You would think everyone hated her if you went by the media, but that just shows how left-wing the luvvies are. Her funeral shows the respect she was actually held in. I remember saying when she was ousted that history will deal kindly with Thatcher when her contribution is assessed without heat from either side. Yes, things were not perfect and you get unforeseen consequences, but that happens with every government.
I hated her at the time, and hated her after, and I still hate her now. The Tories are, and always will be poison to me I'm afraid.
I said at the time she died it was a good day . I still stand by that . She was poison . Never hated any politician before , but in her case I will make an exception .
Mods, the election was done yesterday and in the build up, all forum rules were broken by the continual political discussions. This included some in tasteless personal abuse of the politicians (I'm sure they don't read this or care though) and some niggling between forum members. An election is an important event in our country, we know, but how long are you going to let the political discussion continue? The event has happened. In the build up there was some exchanges of opinions, but I just hope that now results are coming forwards that there is no forum backlash and falling out. Politics is a dangerous discussion and when it gets to winning and losing, results can highten division. We don't want that opportunity on here do we? The political debate was allowed, I hope the original forum rule of non political discussions returns.
What will go on, the sniping and antagonising? I've said my piece and look forward to hearing the mods view.
What a shame about the Lib Dems. Think the Tories were equally culpable in the last administration and should have endured the same loss of votes!!
Not an advocate of proportional representation, but I note that UKIP have roughly twice the support of that of the SNP, but only have 2 seats compared to SNP's 56. Apparently due to the low population numbers in Scottish constituencies. Whilst I know you can't even things out completely....this smacks of the old rotten boroughs...where a few people could elect an MP. This must have favoured Labour in the past. Will never change now of course.
Thanks, FLT. Folks - it's a democracy. We're allowed to have an opinion, we're allowed to speak freely and we can vote the way we wish. What has happened, has happened. Like it or not - we now need to work together. I, personally, don't like all of the policies of ANY party, but I recognise the issues which face this country - the economy, the NHS, Europe, the Union, etc - and we need to get everything moving and work together. I have my beliefs in what is likely to happen now - but I will keep them to myself. The election is done and dusted, let's move on .......................
