He's a born red. Which is ironic

Terrible what's projected to happen to the Lib Dems

Honestly I'll be glad if Miliband is done for. No way he's ready or fit to be PM. Should've gone with big bro

No chance that if the exit polls are correct labour would form the next government being 77 behind the Tories. Their ability to run a government will be so dependent on the support of the SNP, which EM has ruled out so clearly in their campaign.

I don't think the public will accept such a situation.

Don't think the public would accept the idea that Labour are fit to run a government when it came down to it. They need a new main man/woman and they need to seriously overhaul their PR and public image

The massacre of the libdems is just astonishing. It will be much more than anything anybody had predicted.

It's shocking, but I'm hearing Danny Alexander has gone so that's a bonus as he's a little rat

Swindon just confirmed... Tory win, Greens last but got the biggest cheer so y'know

20 years ago they were a pointless protest vote. They got their moment in the sun at the last election and at the same time alienated most of the idealists who wasted their votes supporting them. They're now, quite understandably and for want of a better word, ****ed. Self inflicted failure, no sympathy.

I agree with some of this. They/Clegg were forced into making a difficult decision in forming the coalition, getting into bed with the Tories they massively ****ed themselves over but what else could they have done, the carrot of power and status was dangling in front of them, it was any politicians dream and as Lib Dems they were well and truly in dreamland. If they come out as badly as the polls are speculating then they need to regroup and redefine themselves. This will start with changes at the top of the party where the political ideology of those persons has been compromised. I think there are still genuine individual political ideas in the party but they're being consumed by the compromises being made by those running the party. I say this as someone who still quite likes Clegg but who recognises he happily and easily sold himself out.

So basically what's happened is the Tories have nicked every seat where Lib Dem voters have voted Labour instead. Another Milipede **** up

I stand corrected. The Greens beat the Lib Dems in Swindon. That's sort of shocking but also sort of good

Lib Dem voters from the last election have become disaffected with the party due to it's decision to form the coalition with the Tories. They have switched to Labour as the Lib Dems are no longer left enough. The blue has bled too much into the orange. Not unsurprising at all.

Cons hold Putney, Lib Dems lose ground

Best thing to come out of this so far is that it looks like UKIP have failed and have been shown up as the non-entity that they are

If the BBC exit poll is right we'll have have moved backwards, a retrograde step. Closer to a two party system than we have been in a long time. Lib Dems become a marginal party again as they were until probably around the election before last when Charlie K was their big man

If Labour have taken a kicking it's because in Miliband they've got wrong man. Nothing else
