As you many know, I work in politics for a living Dick. In my experience, 80% of BBC journalists are left wing. I have spent the best part of my professional career dealing with them. Three high profile examples - Jim Naughtie - who let slip after Blair's victory that "we" had won, Justin Webb, who never hides his disdain for Conservatives/Republicans, and dear old Andrew Marr, married to Jackie Ashley, and clearly a left wing writer from his days on the Guardian and Independent. Then you have James Purnell, ex Labour Cabinet Minister and now the No.3 at the Beeb as Head of Digital. Even James Harding (Head of News) was a card carrying Blairite from his days at the Times. Steve Richards from the Guardian regularly presents Westminster Hour -again, a very left wing writer. The only credible Conservative journalist on the Beeb right now is Andrew Neil, and he never gets the main gig. As a further example of the Beebs institutional left wing bias, do you recall who their Social Affairs Editor was not so long ago? Step forward.....Polly Toynbee. I have met her. the High Priestess of. political Left Wing Corrective-ism (sic). Imagine the Beeb appointing Melanie Phillips from the Daily Mail in her place... Incidentally, the Daily Mirror's Political Editor Jason Beattie is a big Charlton fan. His politics are hopeless, but I have had a few good chats with him about Duchatelet!
What always gets my goat about the BBC is that they are happy to have a pop at the Prime Minister of the UK for being paid the sum of £140K per annum whereas they are happy to pay Garry Lineker £2m per annum for his weekly detritus ... As for my political views.... well that's between Missy AH, me and anybody who stops me on the street (with a clipboard) and asks me
I work in Public Affairs for a large UK PLC . Spend about 3 days a week at the Palace (Westminster, not Crystal).
The Express's front page headline yesterday was "Vote Ukip". Sorry Vol, but I thing Nigel Farage is just as big a fraud as the rest. Even if he became Prime Minister he'd find, as Cameron (no ifs no buts) did, that he couldn't do much about immigration. The fault really lies with us, the electorate, for making impossible demands. For example, in a survey last year to find out about different attitudes amongst different classes, there were 2 things which were universally agreed across the board. 1) Everyone wants better public services. 2) Everyone wants lower taxation. Or put it this way: Nobody wants to die but everyone wants to go to heaven.
Another thing which sticks in my craw is the way Young Ed has copied Young Dave's habit of, when confronted with facts which completely undermine his case, simply say "I don't accept that". These career politicians have never learned to cope in the real world. I would have included Young Nick, but he's too insignificant. By the way I've just finished 2 weeks of difficult jury service, and am in the mood for a real skinful. I've had a couple of pints of homebrew, and we're going out shortly for a Turkish, and hopefully more bevvy.
i'd like to see a heat map of who people voted for overlaid with intelligence levels. there's got to be some logical reason why london is all labour...
12% vote for UKIP = one seat. SNP get 56 seats for a similar amount. Something is amiss. I'll sort it out later.
Because Clegg rolled over and allowed Cameron to mug him in what should have been a vote for PR. The Greens are in the same category as UKIP.
Surely the higher number of inner city council estates, in relation to the more wealthier living in the suburbs and outer cities?
If you fall within certain groups, you'll be just fine with Diane Abbott or David Lammy as your MP. Jobs for life.
i am surprised Diane Abbott got back in. Its fine to oppose UKIP because of their policy of controlled migration, but then still vote for Abbott who is a racist.
